The old farm dog used to like being up front on the tank got lazy when chasing the cows Ok I used to spoil her. She was much safer up front with her paws on the handle bars than balancing on behind. Another worker dropped her off the back and under a car cost $600 in vet bills and six months before she got back to work again

A friend of my dad's used to have a foxy that rode around on the tank of his R80RT. Mind you that had heaps of fairings and such like so slipping sideways wasnt any issue at all. Also, he had a sheepskin tied to the tank for it to sit on.

Nice one HR Good to see a farmer thats looks after their dogs.

While they are a work tool, they are animals too. It guts me the way some people treat their animals. Some would simply shoot the poor girl rather than fork out $600, although some work dogs are worth their weight in gold.

Spooky, or is this where you got the inspiration.
I've been thinking about it ever since I got the bike actually. My bike is my only form of transport and she really loves the beach and I really love my pooch.

But the weight thing is an issue to consider, you're right and I'm not sure how settled she's be, although she is a fairly mellow dog. I want to put her in a box rather than just have her sitting on the tank b/c I know that wouldn't work at all.

I've also thought about her vulnerability if we bin and b/c we're only going to the beach (a 5min ride) it should be ok but, I am also aware that I should ALWAYS look at the worst case scenario when it comes to safety.

Hmmmmmmmmm...I think I'll give a farming place a call and see what they suggest.

    Cheers for the advice

You're just a big softie Deano, I could see that your dogs were very well looked after.

    it's a nice idea csl.
personally i wouldn't do it for safety reasons. that'd be my only concern for you and your doggy.
the rear rack mounted idea sounds the best or maybe a big velcroed tank bag/sleeping bag/coccoon with a hole up front for the head. it could be all fluffy/padded inside so she'd be warm too.
still i'd worry about the animal if you crashed tho. if you go ahead with it, consider doggy insurance if you don't already. it's saved me thousands on my mutt over the last 7 years. I could never put him on the bike tho, he weighs 50 something kilo and he's a nightmare to take anywhere.
