IOM and/or Swiss Alps June 2007

    Hi Folks

    THE PLAN

Fly into Germany or Switzerland second week of June 2007 and hire some sports bikes - (we dont want to do the IOM tour but you could and then join us)

Then we go thrash them around places like this http://www.alpineroads.com/images/ph...er/stelvio.jpg for 2-3 weeks

The budget we're working on is EU3200 for 2 weeks of riding. Its a lot and is based in 3 star accom not back packers and we both drink single malts and smoke Cubans WAY too much for our health, so you could pull the day cost down a bit - but hey this is a trip of a life time and I don't want to get to the last week and find I can't sit in some way cool town and have a bottle of wine on the table and enjoy the day of thrashing

http://www.alpineroads.com/ We are going to do as many roads on this as we can in 2 - 3 weeks
http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...5393&q=stelvio this one we're getting up early so we miss all the HaHaharleys

We have 2 definites and a maybe so far - anyone else keen?

Have fun guys. I had a few days fanging around the Austrian Alps last year, it was a total blast. I hired a bike in Munich & it was cheaper than hiring one here.

I've got a really good motorcycling map book of the german-austrian-italian alpine area that you can borrow if you like, shoot me a PM.

    Cheers

    Cool

You'll have a blast. I do the MV tour each year and we get about 12 or13 guys from all over the world meeting up in Zurich, then heading off for 10 or 11 days of amazing riding. All very fast guys and we also stay in great accomodation etc etc, some even down to the Cubans, excell food & booze. Usually do a trackday too, next year Mugello. I can put you in touch with goodguys for renting bikes etc.... you can rent anything basically, good prices. ciao4now.

Yeah, Swiss police have no sense of humour but generally it's 20kmh over and above they ping ya , heavy fines!!. In the passes you can have a ball at semi-legal speeds because of the terrain. If you go into Italy, Spain, France or Germany, ride the backroads... stay away from the cities and touristy areas.... and you can have soooo much fun. If you wanna start in Zurich, contact Peter Sporri at www.fast-travel.ch He runs our MV Agusta annual tours and also now heaps of other sportbike tours in Europe and Sth Africa. He can help organise bike rentals for any kiwis etc (tell him 'The Kiwi' sent ya.) Even if you want to do your own ride Peter can help. Also trackdays at the GP circuits and private tracks too. His tours are amazingly well run even with a luggage van with all your gear, spare tyres etc. I go back each year for more, must be a sucker for punishment haha. ciao4now

I hired my KTM off these guys in Munich:

    http://www.endurokeller.de/

Y' kinda need to fudge a bit of german to deal with em & they don't do much in the way of luggage or gear hire but their prices are good, NZ$870 for a Superduke for 7 days ain't too bad.

    Cheers

Enjoy. Great rides. You will not regret them. That is a damm good website that Alpine Roads. I used it and did a lot of those passes when I was over there a few years ago. Have a ball - it will be a trip of a life time.
