Need a favor from a KB'r in the Gore/Southland region

Got my eye on a bike on Trademe which has a suspected buggered big end bearing.....this was a diesel mechanics opinion but that would probably be the worst case scenario (hopefully).

Anyway doing the sums on potential purchase price of bike, cost of transport to Auckland and repair cost it might be feasible.

So if I did decide to take it further would there be anyone near Gore that might be able to check it out for me in terms of a visual inspection and hear it running and give me their take on what might be wrong with it?

The potential cost of the bike at auction could make it a good buy regardless of engine condition and make some money off the parts, eg chassis, forks, rims, lights etc. I was looking at potentially getting it running and either keep it or onsell it. The crunch is the unknown condition of the engine as it could be the big end bearing, crank or conrod or a mix of all the above.

Whats starting to kill the idea for me is the cost to get it to Auckland.......looking at $600+

Best case scenario would be $1500 for the bike, $600 transport cost and up to $1000 engine repair (could be more once stripped). So I would be looking at 3k minimum then rego and warrant etc. Then open market value be 4.5k?
