Was looking at Model Aircraft & Ships magazines for my Uncle yesterday and came acroos a photo of a Matchless motorcycle with none other than old Marlon Brando sitting on it. It was the bike he rode in the 50's flick ' The Wild Ones' and the story was about the fact that the 'M' logo was inverted upside down as a mark of rebel youth !! i.e. 'W' Mind you I am presuming it was suppose to be W for WILD ???

Must watch out for that next time I see the movie on MGM or TCM.

My memory could be playing tricks but I thought he rode Harley in that movie. I remember a Triumph in it too but not a Matchless.

Edit. I was wrong. He rode a Triumph. Looked it up on the web

You are quite right. The Matchless was in the movie but it was ridden by the rival gang leader played by Lee Marvin, one of my all time favourite actors. The picture of Brando was just a publicity shot.
