Motomart are a curious bunch. I think the service is pretty good if you truck up holding $20k in cash actually in your hand, but otherwise they suck. Example: I have two friends looking to get into biking. Way keen. Both are in their early 30's, professionals, not yet right in the thick of the "twinky" thing but not exactly short a bob or two either. They both pitched up to motomart (in a late model MX-5 to make it clear they like to spend money on toys with wheels) and were completely ignored. They're now a bit pissed because it means they can't go to the shop and buy VTR250's ... new.

TSS, on the other hand welcomed them like old friends.

Curiously enough when it was my turn to be a newbie I did manage to get some attention from motomart, test rode a VTR250 and declared it to be glorious but not $5k better than the other bike I rode (at TSS). Likewise WMCC were helpful and didn't bat an eyelid when I kinda didn't really like the GN250 I rode.

So, YMMV. I think the lesson is that you need to speak up in bike shops because they get 99.9% tire kickers and it's difficult to spot the ones that aren't.

Fair Call Pete, I understand where your coming from. However I personally would like you to look at this as a forum on how we all could do better. Don't you think if you asked me when I bought the bike 'when do you think that you'll have the 1000k up?' we'll book you in and get you back out on the road, where you belong. That would have improved the relationship?

It just maybe something that the people like me appreciate...

Anyways, let me remind you why I have never mentioned who I purchased my bike from. I never started this tread to shit on anyone, it was started because I was overwhelmed to hear that TSS had gone the extra mile to help out a guy who was struggling with his bike. Something I would have appreciated
And I have no problem with you voicing your opinion, but at the same time, I'd rather you voice them to us first. If we then did nothing about it, you'd have every right to put us down here!

I'm pretty sure you didn't buy your bike from me, as I'd like to think my after sales service and follow up is pretty good. I think I 'nearly' sold it to you, but you perhaps purchased it from one of the 'not named' guys. This may well have been cause you'd rather not have dealt with me, and that's fine too, but should you feel the need to get well looked after, try me next time.

Sweet as, I'll come and talk to you soon then. Because I'm sure you'd like to hear the happenings first hand, rather than hearing that someone had a bad experience via a forum.

    Same old story..
These people suck, these people are great, these people dont like me...

You cant make everyone happy, there are many different opinions out there.
Go to who you think is good. Plain and simple!

    As we have said before..
Its soo much easier for people to bitch and complain, but when something good actually happens its unheard of.

So good one the people giving praise! (dont care who its for)

But if your consistantly bad mouthing others about the same old stuff, it just gets boring.
Motorcycing is not a hobby, It is a way of life!

Thats why I keep quite about that Martin fella down at Motomart. Got boring after a while.

But seriously, thanks for the near faultless service Martin.

I think a lot of people in the service/retail industry seem to forget why they are there and it's not to look at shiney blkes but for the customers .
no customers no buisness no job. its that simple.
It shouldn't matter if the guy is a tyre kicker or not

As a total bike enthusiast I'm happy talking shit all day about bikes. To buyers or fellow enthusiasts, simply because that's what I do.
Sometimes, we get so busy we can't get to everyone. Some of those people walk out disgruntled and that's a shame. But despite the fact that some of those disgruntled people think we were simply chatting with 'mates' and couldn't be fucked chatting to them, they'd also be fucked off if we were chatting with them and we 'ditched' them to chat with the 'potentially disgruntled' ones. Hope that makes sense.

Fark me if this thread isn't looking all balanced and sensible. Anyone that's worked in hospo or sales knows how hard dealing with the punters can be (present company excluded of course). You're doing pretty good if you can keep half of the bastards happy. I've got my favorite shop cos when I was getting back into bikes they helped me out and remembered my name. I'll still shop on price at times, or for specific things, but generally I stick with my man. It seems like most shops in Welly have treated me pretty well most of the time. Keep up the good work I say, it's a pretty cut throat business.

totally agree, but when you don't even get acknowledge that is bad, I don't expect a salesman to drop what they are doing to be at my bec and call, a nod or wink is surfice that they have seen me. After that I will go and ask for help...

Indeed it is. I can honestly say that in all of the years I've been in the bike industry that where I am now is the best shop by far customer service wise.

I'm not the bosses puppet. I'd fuck off if I thought I could do better else where. In fact, before starting at WMCC I was a true 'bike shop slut'.
When I came back from Brisbane to start there, all the guys I used to work for had a friendly 'sweepstake' as to how long I'd last there knowing how slack I used to be. But once I got into the groove of trying to be the best I could be in my job (not saying I'm perfect, as none of us are), I found staying at WMCC to be not only easy, but desirable. If you know of anyone else here that's worked for practically every bike shop in Wellington, then let them tell us all I'm wrong.

Imagine if the bike shops could talk about their customers on here too! Now that would be farken funny! BTW Pex, I've always had good service from the WMCC salesman. Peter M always offers to make me a coffee when I come in and Hamish always asks how the bike is going - as he did today!
Just because I've had a past bad experience on the parts counter doesn't mean WMCC are rubbish. The good services of these two salesmen far exceeds the bad dealing of one guy.

Yes, I do whatever the hell I like - I enjoy making my own choices and I'm loving the result!

I'd appreciate it if you're gonna comment on my behalf, that you at least find some accuracy in your statements.

Same thing happened to me, but I just thought it was my responsibility to take care of my bike and book it's services, I guess I been like that since I stopped needing somebody to hold my hand....... What sort of relationship were you hoping for Pex? Where's the Love? and wheres those two pies and two cokes you owe me?
