Paekakariki Hill on a sunny day

    Hey team

    Lovely day in Wellers

As a newly settled Wellingtonian, I have the arduous task of finding nice bike roads to continue with the therapy

Today was a quick zip over the Paekakariki hill from Lower Hutt - road was sweet - with a few wet patches in what I suspect would be the usual places - but very therapeutic overall - the view out to sea and down to Parapaumu was nice icing on the cake

Thought i would post a piccy or two

Hi Shafted. I heard a little rumour you'd been over Paekak yesterday. Thanks for posting those photos to make us feel jealous

On a very good day you can see Ruapehu from the summit.

And welcome to the site (even though you've been a member for ages I don't think we've welcomed you!). It's a great site, lots of friendly people.

Gotta watch out for those wet patches. I think this is the advice my mum gave me when I left home...

A good ride - leave Upper hutt, over the Rimutakas, up toward Pahiatua and over the Pahiatua Track to Palmerston, back down via the back way (Tokomaru, Shannon, etc) down the coast and back up over the Paekakariki Hill, Haywards hill and back to Upper Hutt. Additional (for extra credit) Blue Mountains road at silverstream, up whitemans valley (how did they get away with that name?) to Te Marua.
Lots of hills and twisty bits. Plenty of places to stop for coffee.
A shorter variation is the Aketarewa Hill road to Waikanae, then down the coast.
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.

    Cheers team

I am not sure i want to comment on wet patches and the lessons they might offer or who might be offering them - enuf said - - avoid ...

But that sounds like a sweet ride Pete- All we need now is fine weather - when it matters ..
