    Why I love my bike

As you're probably aware, Auckland's NW motorway has been pretty much standing still all morning, backed up to Massey, due to the Grafton and S motorway links being closed due to an accident. NZ Herald reports a hitchhiker run over, or something. Perhaps they were wearing a turban and carrying a backpack full of Semtex.

Anyway, I still got from Te Atatu to Takapuna in 25 minutes. The trip in a car would have been a solid 2 hours today, I think.

And this weather is just gorgeous. The bike was just purring on all that lovely thick, cold air.

Also, respect to the guy on the CBR250 filtering ahead of me. I had to hustle to catch up

    Why I love my bike!

Cause it does good wheelies. In controlled circumstances of course.

    Why I love my bike

Cos at 22 years old it STILL gets me there and gets me back, in relative comfort and not that far behind the others on their brand-new-last-week bikes.
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.

    Why I love my bike?

Ditto the North Western this morning
Ditto the 20 odd years old (although I don't actually know when it was built, it is still a mystery)
But also because of the parking!!!

The Northwestern was typical car drivers this morning when I went down - real slow down to the causeway where they had this huge eletronic sign giving directions - at the sign we sped up again, doing 100kph for the first time yet! Going over the Mt Albert rd bridge I saw hardly any cars on the motorway, normaly it's thick as - like,do we live in different Aucklands?

Why I like my bike, any of my bikes? - cause no one pulls up next to me on a lookalike.

I didn't know about that. I had an exam this morning at 9:30, it was the first time I've filtered all the way from the Waterview on-ramp to the end of the motorway in the city, the traffic was that bad.
Thinking about it, I'm damn lucky I've got the bike, or I would've probably missed the exam!

I love mine for exactly the same reason - I had to get off the Nth Western at Newton, ride along K'Rd and get on to the Southern M'way through to Mt Wellington...took about 10mins longer than normal. If I was in a cage I might as well have slept in and come into work mid morning!

I also love my bike because I can park it in view right outside my window at work - the cages have to park about 400m away!!

I love mine for a ton of reasons..

I love my Triumph because it just such a nice all around bike and it looks like sex on wheels with it's high pipes... Cor. A school boys dream..

the Guzzi because it does not care about convention and it needs me to look after it. It has loud pipes and a straight cut C/R gear box. Belting into a corner too fast and whacking it down through the 3 top gears produces a noise that strafing victims may have heard in their last minutes of WW2 and whacking in a double handful of gas on the exit would put a horn on a jellyfish... MAGIC!

Smile Why I love MY bike

Try getting to and from auckland uni everyday without one

Whereas I can leave 15 minutes before lectures start, pull up in the free parking spaces right outside the front door and be ready to go, having saved over 30 minutes than had I caught the bus. Driving the car isn't much of an option either, with parking starting at about $6.

Gotta love cruising past the losers sitting in the traffic in their cars...even if it is pissing with rain. Every journey is enjoyable, even in rush-hour

And with the FXR, 10 bucks petrol lasts around 200 km no worries.

Finally...it's not a scooter! Not that there's anything wrong with scooters mind you ( http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php?t=3406 )
