Ive also found that these guy's are one of the cheaper insurance companies. They are excellent to deal with and when I wrote off my first bike they paid out within 2 weeks!

yea .. they have roadside assistance cover .. optional gear cover .. pretty set excesses but they wont kill you for 25% of the value like Protecta or others.. i think for my FJ it was $750 excess based on $7000 value ( that should pretty much cover the engine work )

Yeah I had trouble getting my head around just how much my excess would have been with Protecta, though their policy was slightly cheaper. However because the policy was under a certain amount they wouldnt let me make monthly payments, I had to pay the whole amount up front which I couldnt afford. My excess with Star is $500 max. Im pretty sure there is no excess for theft either, might be wrong though.... I rang Kiwibike insurance and they were really helpful, they gave me 3 different quotes with different insurance companies within 10 mins.

Ah yes, I was a little miffed at the mailer Star sent out to its customers a few weeks back.... It read something like "purchase these data dots for a really cheap price form us and be into win $50 000"... sounded great. Yeah Right. When I checked the covering letter it had in teeny weeny lil print down the bottom saying- *every purchase comes with a $3 instant kiwi with a chance to win up to $50 000. Thought that was a little off! But datadots themselves are a great idea. Gonna think about doing it for my next bike....

Im convinced then. If I can actually afford a bike that's worth more than $500 then i'll definately be looking at getting it done.

i'd also recommend calling Mark at Rapid Radio (Aucklanders) to get a Mongoose installed..

i dont have one personally but the FJ is too heavy to lift into a Ute.. its parked at the end of my steep driveway so pushing it isnt an option and if you try and start it .. i will DEFINITELY hear it .. then it just gets nasty in a big blue hurry..

not that im a violent, unstable sort mind you .. but they will get a stern talking to...

    Cool, cheers.

I get worried about my bike ever since one of my mates picked my bike up almost a metre of the ground one day. He's not a big guy....

I am violent and unstable and would go pretty postal if I caught anyone trying to steal my bike!
