    New bike (ZX7R)

Well, a fellow KB purchased my YZF600, and it worked out perfectly for me to pick up my new bike on Sat, my all time dream bike a '97 ZX7R (sure its not the fastest...but damn does it look good ) Took it for a ride on Sunday...yay for auckland weather, thounder clouds and lightning, but I didn't care, I was on my new bike although I was riding like a pansey seeing as I didn't know the bike at all.

Still doesn't feel that much faster then my YZF, even tho there is supposed to be 30+hp difference, maybe its just smoother in its delivery. The 2 bikes weigh basically the same as well...maybe I have to get those ram intakes working at higher speeds

Anyone else with a 7r that has any tips on the bike?

Also really want to try a track day with this bike, but only have jeans (have a bike jacket and boots tho)...I'm guessing this wouldn't be the smartest thing to do?

Great bikes! If I could have a garage full of bikes I'd def have one. Still thinks it's one of the sexiest, mean looking mother fu**ing sports bikes ever, esp in the red/purple.

Congats mate Good stuff. I saw that on this site for sale. Looks nice.
If the destination is more important than the journey you aint a biker.

    Nice bike

I lived on mine for 7yrs ('98), jacked the rear, dropped the front.
Made a real planted front end with heaps of feed back.
Take the time to set it up, you will be rewarded.
The rear suspension my be needing a rebuild (replacement) depending on km's, I replaced mine at about 35,000k's (should have been done sooner).
All in all very nice bike, heavy in today's standards but still very cool

Congrats, i've heard the ZX-7R are great bikes! By all means do a track day but beg, steal, or borrow some leather or cordura pants, even draggin jeans would save your skin if you fell off.

cheers guys, will look into the suspension as its done 40k now and could probably do with a freshen up.

Just went to the garage to take her for a ride as the weather cleared a bit only to find the rear tire flat! So thought, take the wheel off and go pump it up to see if its a quick or slow leak, to find out my "universal" race stands dont fit it!! the swing arm is to big...doh!...anyone wanting a "universal" race stand?!??

Sure performace is a bit down on the GSXR, but I guess its the style thing I mentioned before that you are lacking...

Performance can always be solved, looks can't (Although I still like the GSXR, just prefer the 7R myself as I consider it right up there with a ducati on looks).

    anyway
