To get back to R6's question though - where do you draw the line...
Mate taking the piss and whacking the mirrors... yeah - whatever. Not my style, but it's hardly a criminal offense.
Mate doing it a second time after I'd asked him not to... pissed off and telling him so
3rd time... Mate being asked to find somewhere else to hang out.
Snotty kid in the street doing it - 1st time, tell them I expect they have a good reason for doing it, then ask for that reason. Put them on notice I don't want thgem to do it again.
2nd time, shout at them
3rd time, photo on phonecam, ring the cops. Little shits need to know society doesn't put up with little shits. They also need to know I'm not going to stoop to their level.
Cut brake lines or substantive damage... 1st (and any other time). ride bike directly to cop shop and report it.
No big deal - it's just a machine, but it's my machine... If people were damaging my friends or family - that's a different matter and I would be inclined to physically defend them rather than let them get hurt again.
Isn't that normal?

i have no idea what id do. theres a show n shine in town next month which im planning on entering....im hoping theres a way to rope the bike off somewhat, so i can wander and take photos rather than having to sit in one spot all day.
ive never caught someone messing with the bike....all i really worry about is a kid getting burnt on the exhaust or knocking it over. was reading about a kid over in the states who suffocated when the bike fell over on top.

There's the urban legend about that happening to a guy in the desert in the States, isn't there?
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the evening,
we will remember them
The exact same thing happened to me,the guy was holding the gas line up over my bike though. He was quite arrogant to start with but tried to make conversation as he realised i was getting fucken angry, told him to shut the fuck up which he did rather quickly to my suprise, felt quite good i must say.
I come out to my bike after school and see people all around it, hardly anyone touches it. But if they do, depending on who it is, will be told to get the fuck off/away from my bike. Then I'd ride the bike over to the office and go straight to senior management and report that someone has been tampering with my bike. The said offender, would be dealt with the next day.
If it's not at school, then I'd just tell them plain and simple, get the fuck off/away my bike. If it's a kid, I would tell them not to touch.
If someone asks to sit on it or whatever, then that's a different story. I'm fine with that. Just don't go touching without asking.
You'd ride a bike with no brake lines? Shit!
Peace hath higher tests of manhood
than battle ever knew.
ive been invited to throw a leg of a couple of bikes...but am always reluctant, and never take it off the stand unless i think i can keep it from dropping. i very rarely ask.... not my place to touch another persons bike...even if i know them. my ex has a 65 panhead...let me play around on that, but i wouldnt do it often.
cola...not too sure there. may be, but havent heard of one.

I don't normally condone violence and I'm usually a pretty chilled out person but I will admit here today that I actually attacked my flatmate (both physically & verbally) when I caught him and his drop-kick mate (both pissed) trying to pick my bike up off the garage floor where thay'd dropped it. F**KERS!!!
They couldn't understand why I was so angry (dude I was ropeable!) over a broken indicator "you hardly even need" and the "tiniest scratch" on the tank.
They had wanted to go for a ride but couldn't find the keys (funny that), and were in the process of trying to push the bike up the driveway so they could "ride it back down" when it "slipped". F**KERS!!!
I know it sounds weird but I felt kinda violated. MY bike had been touched. MY bike had been dropped. Why did these clowns not get it? It felt great to scream at both of these plebs AND get the apology the next day!
I guess the moral of my story is....If it's not yours, don't touch it. Regardless of whether you know the person or not.
To close on a good note, Drop-kick did get my bike fixed the follwing week and neither twat has stepped foot in MY garage since.![]()
bugger! least they got it fixed!! i would be sooo peeved if someone did that. did their parents not teach them respect??
none of my mates would go near my bike, not unless i gave them permission. i dont mind people i know having a look or a touch so long as im right there. only person i let near my bike is my dad...ive even chucked him the keys, but he refuses to take it out, lol. hes the only one id let ride my bike.
