Two motorcyclists flown to hospital after serious crashes
01 October 2006
Two motorcyclists were airlifted to Waikato hospital, following two separate accidents during a six-hour endurance race this afternoon.
At 4pm, a 48-year-old Tokoroa man lost control of his bike and crashed into another motorcyclist near Gordon, south of Te Aroha, a statement issued by Westpac Waikato Air Ambulance pilot Simon Lewis said.
The 48-year-old man was flown to hospital with multiple injuries and the other rider suffered minor injuries.
Then, at 5.30pm, a 34-year-old man crashed his bike, on the road between Waitomo Caves and Te Anga. He was also flown to Waikato hospital, suffering suspected spinal injuries.
Earlier today, six motorcross riders were helicoptered to Hastings hospital after with a variety of injuries, ranging from a penetrated foot, to head injuries and broken limbs.
The riders had hurt themselves during a six-hour-long motorcycle endurance race in Putere, 40km south-west of Wairoa today.

jIM2 HAS SAID THIS ON MAY OCCASIONS SO i WILL , turn off caps, champion his voice here.
Use the wellington coucils Website, on there there is the facility to report roading hazards, and he has noted that they are rather efficient at reacting to these in that signs where up later that day after he used the system.
the road i live on was resealed earlier this year. signs up, but the stones werent swept for about a month or so after theyd been put down. of course, they get swept to the center line and the gutters by passing traffic. meant i nearly assed off when coming from the left, crossing the center to access my driveway, and again coming into the driveway, simply due to the stones.
they finally swept them up, but its about as bad again due to the rubber burners across the street ripping them up.

2 motorcyclists colliding?? how about we all post feedback on the stuff site - i already have.
Yeah, hey NDMZ. Appreciate your help today.
Was my mate on a GSX250 who slid out on the tar snakes. For those of you that don't know the road it's one hell of a mess.
Wrote an email to the appropriate party today. Getting my friend who binned to do the same. Hopefully a concentrated flood of emails may result in some action being taken before a more serious accident takes place. Mate just had a sore knee, was lucky he binned on a right hander and he didn't end up in the face of oncoming traffic.

um, because the reporting doesn't appear to be accurate?
A first hand account Marty? What really happened?
We heard, when we got back the pub that 2 went up a bank and one bike came back down on another couple, but you can't trust pub talk.
Either way, people got hurt, apparently due to bad roads, well actually whatever the cause, it is unfortunate.
Life is a like a box of chocolates; People are like Onions; The key to success is.......
Fuck it, let's ride!
fair enough.
that's not what was stated at the top the page though, and personal experience has made me a little hot under the collar about it - i just don't post every little scare/off/scratch
Well, we can all only go on what we've heard to date. Personally, I can only feel relief that no-one on that ride paid the ultimate price.
