    Only 7 days to go!

There is only 7 days left!

I've recived my cards, I've practiced, I've got a tank bag, my bike is prepped...

But most importanltly, I have pre-paid for my copy of the DVD!
Think about it, for only the price of a couple of tanks of gas the memory of the GC will last, instead of fading away after the next time you sleep!

Are the Kiwi bikers going to stand up and be counted?
Who is booked in for the hardest weekend of the year (cos if you ain't booked in now you ain't going to be riding)?

Andy's out in the garage now, checking his bike over - has new tyres, done some other work on it too so it's in top shape. He gets a little nervous before each one, but hell, he's gearing up for number 20 this year so I somehow think he'll be fine!

I'll be up there on the Sunday, will have to get up early as he normally gets in about 8am.

DVD is a great idea, can't wait to see it.

Can most certainly count Warr and RiderinBlack in.
I meant to be at this one but low funds prohibited my participation.

And how many of you will be rushing to order your copy now in the hope you made it onto film?

Andy really enjoyed the ride this year - and was a bit chuffed to be presented with a neat framed collection of all 20 of the cloth badges to commemorate his (and Cameron's) achievement at doing all of the rides to date.

Same time next year for the 21st?

And for all those travelling south along the Desert Road Sunday afternoon - SHIT those cops were a pain! One was tucked into an area on the side of the road and invisible until you passed him - thankfully someone flashed their lights to warn me. Then one was parked on the side of the road and bloody pulled out two cars behind me. Had to sit dead on 100kph all the way to Waiuru but I spoilt his game - flashed my lights at everything coming towards me because he was about 500m behind me!

I came across the Desert Road on Sunday afternoon. There were two marked patrol cars, a mufti car, and a motorcycle cop on the southern end of the road.

Looked like they were doing very good business!

I am reliably informed that the increased presence is because of the lahar risk from Ruapehu and the possible need to close SH1.

    Two adverts:

    "How Convenient"

    Make that three adverts:

    Total crap!

I saw the bike cop, thought he was a long way from home, and saw three marked patrol cars. Got a feeling I did notice a silver mufti at one point but not sure where that was.

We stopped at Flat Hills on the way home and then I followed Andy - didn't think I'd see him again until we got home but I caught up to him around Rata. Thought "that's odd" as he was at the back of a long line of vehicles. Then I noticed that the one right in front of him was a bloody cop! He was really pissed off because it had started raining heavily and he was getting soaked being forced to sit there at about 90kph!
