Meh yeah well thats the risk. Im assuming the site you posted is in american dollars? It doesnt even say where they are located. I bet the free shipping doesnt include out of america. I bet thats where the cost comes in that you find added onto the new zealand price.
Id love one! But id probably need to get myself a set of leathers at the same time.

Ridden one at Blenheim Kart track and it was bloody horrible, wobbled even in a straight line, maybe they're an aquired taste.

Chch guys have been racing them at Indoor Karts on Monday nightsfor quite a while now,few torn muscles, two broken ribs and concussion, far to dangerous for me

I've had a go on one of these at a karting track - as Kickaha said, they're an aquired taste. I was struggling with mine as it refused to tickover. But if/when you got it going, they had a genuine powerband!

Other thing to remember is to wear footwear you're not bothered about - mate of mine ruined a pair of decent running shoes! He got it cornering and the edges of the rubber soles of his running shoes grounded and were worn away!

They seem to have come down in price over here - which is a good and bad thing. Good, as they're a laugh in the right place. Bad as I've started to see idiots riding them on the pavement - how long before some dope tries riding one in the road with the inevitable result?

(We're getting a lot of kids on those powered scooters now - the 3-wheeled things? - and they are in the road, see you coming and head each side of you! No idea of roadcraft. Oh well, when a few of them get wiped out, the Government will then have a "Shock! Horror!" reaction and ban them!)
