Question When naked, is a wet crotch inevitable?

Scored some new, if somewhat not-sexy, Teknic cordura gears a little while back and bugger me if on my first proper ride in the rain my crotch ends up wet. Now, truth is I love my bike a lot but I swear that the moisture was from an external source. I have been informed by someone what knows about these things that this is going to happen regardless of the brand of gear, because of the doggie-style ergos on the Tuono. The gear has been sent back to be checked out just in case, but I want to hear about other naked bikers experiences. It can even be on topic if you like.

Do your corduras have a leather crotch - mine do, and the water gets in via the stitching - just use beeswax or something to waterproof it - or you could try a Tena pad....

Had a girlfriend called Tena once. Didn't seem to absorb much moisture at all...but I was young. Might have been doing something wrong.

The Spada isn't too bad but I'm in water proofed leathers, so may be a little different.

Bollocks to that. Sounds like rubbish to me.

Bear in mind that Goretex wicks water to the bottom of your jacket and trousers.

I have a water proof Cordura/Goretex jacket that is waterproof and I wear Spool Overtrousers over my leather trousers or Draggin' jeans and I have never had a wet crotch in that gear, including two days of torrential rain from Tauranga to Napier and Napier to Wellington.

Wear those plastic pants with elastic waist and cuff - always dry.

Without them? Soggy crutch after an hour.

I guess that the sit up and beg stylee means that the goretex stuff wicks it as far as the crotch then struggles to wick it any further.

    That's a good point actually.

Mind you the Cordura pants I used to have never leaked either.

My Teknics gear never leaked on my SV1000s. It probably has to cope with a far greater volume of water on the Tuono.

Move back from that tank a fraction when it's wet. Sitting up against the tank forms a V shaped area that gathers water and it get drain away. So it soaks through whatever you're wearing, right at the crotch.
