    Question Evaded

last night, at around 10-30pm i left countdown with a bag of nuts on the back of my honda..
the night was clear, i was in my technic jacket and full face helmet.
comming down ulster st i saw a cop, sitting on the side of the road..i tooted my horn as i went by (just being a smart ass) and proceeded to flash my lights to the oncomming traffic.
about 100m down the road he pulls out...now, i wasnt sure if he was following me.
come to the driving range 500m doown the road, and i though...shall i go down through the gully...yea.
so i indicate, turn into the driving range, head across the grass and glance in my mirrors..what do i see?
the very same cop holden that was parked up, comming at me fast, but by now im heading down the track..lets face it, why would i stop?
i proceed down the track, which very rapidly becomes very rough (not for my honda) and would be impossible for a car (steep, slippery and narrow)
once down 100m i turn of the engine and lights for 5 min, then proceed back up.
no one is around..so i ride home...
but was this illegal, the cop didnt have his lights on...
i figured he would do the macho man telling off thing..i couldn't be fucked with that.
    oh...if the cops read this..uh..sorry.

Why did you require a bag of nuts at 10.30pm?????
(THAT'S the bit I'm puzzled about...)

Keep an eye on your letterbox, you might get something in the mail IF your plate was read...
And tootling melodiously while passing the copper was possibly asking for attention...

I think you will find that it's actually illegal to use your horn except where necessary as in an emergency etc. They can pull you for tooting in the day when you say buy to your mum.

Also I think horn sounding in a real emergency only, comes into effect from 10.00pm to 7.00am or 11.00 to 6.00am, someone correct me here.

So, I'm not suprised he came after ya. Prolly needed one more ticket to round off his quota.
If the destination is more important than the journey you aint a biker.

yes..but he never put on his lights...whats the penalty for using the horn?
seems a bit "nanny state" to me.

    Basically in non-subtle form:
He can do whatever the fuck he wants. He doesn't need his lights on. He can follow you till you stop and then have a chat with you.

Unless he';s about to break the rules that bind non cops (i.e. speed for official reasons... like pursuit) I understand there is no need to put on any lights. I mean... the cop's in a car that's allowed on the road - or any public place.

Tooting your horn might have got his attention, and flashing your lights would have aggrevated it.

    Why do it?

LOL mate I suffer from that too (Cheeky, big balls are something you get used to in time.)

Just don't let it get you into too much crap. It helps that the cops have a sense of humour too.. well.. most of them.
