I have contacted him in the past, he's just a dumb f*ck! He actually gives con artists a bad name by being so pathetic.

I don't doubt they are dodgy deals, and MR has dealt with one to prove it.But I have seen a lot of items put up at $1 reserve and yet go for a normal price.I once saw a good dirt bike go on at $1 reserve - a lot of questions about the low price, but the owner assured it would end up at the price he wanted...and yeah,it did too,but it sure is suspicious.

I contacted him through e-mail and he gave me various bits of info which didn't match up at all. He didn't have very good knowledge about bikes and he was just talking out of his ass.

Then my bro sent him and e-mail and he came up with a different story.

I can't remember the details but when I asked about it, the bike was in one of the Pacific Islands and when my bro asked (a few days later), it was in Asia.

Sounds like the same sort of thing as a mate of mine in LA. He advertised his VFR750 on eBay, and the next day someone in Holland started another auction using the same details and photos!

Just checked those TradeMe listings again - the VFR is listed twice, with two different sellers!!
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

The ads in question are not auctions. The bikes are offered for sale at the listed prices..so if you've got 3 or 4 grand he'll sell them to you...if they exist.....

It's very weird. If the guy is for real he's dumb and if he's not for real he's a thief.

Checked again - they've disappeared. Someone must have complained.

It's a bit but something that always gets me (being a pedantrist and all) is that people advertise bikes and can't even spell their names. For example, there are currently 2 ZZR250s for sale on TradeMe - one is listed as a "Kawisaki", and the other as a "Kawawsaki".
Is it just too hard to look at the name label on the tank or summat?

Check out www.scambusters.co.nz for details on common scam techniques being used on trademe. These sounds like exactly what they describe.

Sounds like the sort of thing we see on Ebay quite a bit. They advertise a bike at a 'bargin' price. Bike is always located abroad so you can't inspect it. They will deliver by DHL / UPS, etc as soon as deposit or full funds are received. The give away is that they always require payment by (I think) Western Union money order or something similar. These can be cashed anywhere in the world. You pay your money and never see the bike. If they get the full price they've done well but often I think they angle for just a deposit - basically whatever they can get out of you.

Ususal thing if it looks to good to be true, it probably is.

TradeMe themselves don't seem to mind, otherwise surely they would have rid the site of these crims long ago ...there are measures that can be taken to make this type of trading more safer. Otherwise it's buyer beware as per usual.

Is what happens, is as soon as you enquire, they remove the ad. That means you cant complain.

They will only accept a Western Union payment and will tell you they will air freight! the bike to your door within 3 days for free.

I looked into a dodgy GSXR1000 for $2990 US. It would cost more than that to fly the fucker from Canada to here!

    Wankers!
