Out with the old, in with the new

    Hey, all,
After a few very pleasurable years with my '95 VFR750, I made the mistake of wandering into the new Triumph dealer in Ft Lauderdale a couple of months ago 'just to have a look'.
I had seen pictures of the new model Speed Triple and thought it looked like an ugly lump. However, in the flesh, so to speak, the thing was stunning. They had a used one, '05, brand new really, but the $8k asking price was just not on for my state of pocket, and I really can't justify that sort of investment in my garage at the moment. Took a mate down to see it, 'cos he really wanted me to buy it, and he ended up buying a brand new 675! Bastard!
They had an '02 Speed Triple in by then, 7500 miles, $5250, black, horny looking bike. Anyway, long story short, I bit and negotiated the price down some, we did the deal, and I picked it up Tuesday. I've left my VFR for them to sell.
Man, this thing is a complete beast, especially in comparison to the refinement of the Honda. I love it!
I have to say, the attitude of the blokes in the shop is fantastic, they're complete enthusiasts, no pressure, just keen to get people onto their bikes. Unlike any dealer (around here) that sells Hondas (or any other 'big 4' brand for that matter), they're complete bloody novices and impersonal.
Now I need to do some stuff, high mount the pipe (which looks totally naff at the moment); take off the ridiculous useless crap mirrors and replace with bar ends; steel braided brake lines; tidy up the tail some; maybe clip-ons, maybe not. The best thing about this bike is that I can fiddle with it and make it my own idea of how it should look and go.
    Anyway, I'm a happy boy.
    Cheers
    Barry

    Great bike. Enjoy.

    ....I'd still like a 675 though.....
