Some 13 months ago I was there with Andrew for the morning "learn to ride" course. Now 13 months later I have my full license and have just bought a 750cc - so get out there, book the course and get it done. You wont regret it - bugger the cost - its cheap!
bro howd u get ur full so quick?
Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot

    I'm old (ish).

6 months on Learner and 6 months on Restricted.
With a defensive driving course the restricted part can be reduced to 3 months.

This applies to those over 25 years old with a clean cage license for 2 years or more.

just borrow a bike and learn to ride on it, if possible borrow it for the test too.

seem you already know how to ride theres probably not much point in doing a learn to ride course.

have you read what the bhs requires you to do to pass?

yea stuff about being able to ride 18m in 10 seconds which is pretty basic and some other stuff about being able to brake properly etc. the whole thing seems pretty basic im pretty confident i can do it by reading it on paper

Idid mine about 2 1/2 years ago with Stephens driving school. Just a Sunday morning at riverside carpark behind "The Mill" in L/hutt. They supplied bike, gloves and helmet for $160. The course takes you from walking down the street to being able to stay upright and relatively safe (in a carpark) on a bike.
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the evening,
    we will remember them

yeap but i brought my own gear with me.

i also remember that seem there were no total newbies when i did it he made it harder - like making the 50km/h and e-braking 70km/h and the same distance

edit: also i beleive its down the other end of the carpark now, the Ewen Bridge end - if you've got some time Jayson just go past and watch for a bit and chat to the guy

Thats where I did my basic handling. (about 5 months ago)
I even used my 50cc scooter (e-braking is great on that thing)

Your right it is down the other end of the carpark now.

The other guy that hasn't been mentioned is Gavin of Streetwise (who is on here: http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/member.php?u=5442); I did mine with him and he seemed pretty good. Obviously most of us only do the test and any lessons with one instructor, so it's a bit hard to compare ...

I priced up wellington and in the end did it up in Palmy on Saturday. Cost was $60 inc using the scooter the guy uses for the test. Easy going guy who was really helpful with tips and things in general.

I can thoroughly recommend Andrew. I did the Learn to Ride in the morning and then the BHS in the afternoon. Andrew uses the Welltech carpark in Petone but I've also heard he uses Clifton Terrace carpark in Welly as well.

He's very patient, and I learnt lots.
I'm only wearing black until they develop something darker
