CB1300 Before & After: What do you reckon?

Following on (in a way) from my thread about the wife thinking I'm anal where you will see pics of the CB suspended without the round things that are essential to riding, I have attached a "before and after" picture of the beast now that the wheels have been re-fitted. Whaddayathink?

For information: The sandblasting was by Shane Groeneveld at Miramar Blasting ($60) and the powdercoating and lacquering was by Bert King at powder surfaces in Upper Hutt. ($50). The wheels were dismantled and rebuilt by Wayne at Motomart. The cost of this should have been around $100 but was actually a bit more as I had neglected to mask the disc/wheel anchor points which meant scraping back the new coating to the machined metal. Sorry Wayne. Doh!

Looks bloody nice mate...more "old school" which I prefer by far, looks the biz
Have been considering doing something similar to mine and haven't made up my mind whether to find a "chrome" powercoat or have them polished and clear coated.

    Once again looking good!

Been thinking about getting my pipes powder coated or something as I'm sick of scrubbing and polishing them, so thanks for the info of the dudes that do these things, and local too, even better.

    Next up...

A rear hugger (Skidmarx) and sports carrier (Renntec) are in the pipeline. Both having to come from the UK though. And I suppose maybe an aftermarket can... but that can wait - I quite like the smooth silky silence!
Meantime, thanks for the compliments guys & gals.

Don't tell me you got Skidmarx to send stuff directly? They told me to fuck off and use their Aussie distributor who jacks the converted UK price by 220% + freight to NZ.

Hi mate... well it seems they are happy to play ball. I don't have a credit card so online ordering wasn't going to work. But I emailed them and said I could have a cheque sent direct from my UK Nationwide account and they said that would be fine. Guess they may still hike the price of shipping tho. Havent ordered anything yet mind you.

I am in the same position and I also have purchased stuff from them in the past. Not suggesting that they are bad people, and the product is certainly great, but why the inconsistent approach to selling to overseas customsers?

Pass! Different monkey at the other end maybe? Chris was the bloke I've been emailing.

    Hi Mrs KD...

Pipes? Powdercoated? Are you sure? I'd be interested to see that.
