To buy or not to buy

Howdy all Ive got an itch for unmolestered bike (as in brand new) I have been out and about today doing some research I spose you could say, on the new 2007 hyosungs gt250r, however after all the negative things that I have read about the 06 gt250r with all the faults that members on KB have had im in two minds about the purchase....

Being a sneaky person that I am I like to see just how well the sales staff actually know there product, so after a few day research on the net on "said" bike I first stroll into Red Baron in Grey lynn, spot me a shiny red one jump on it and wait for a sales rep to attend me, it takes all of about 30secs before im greeted by salesman

, so I start off with the basics

Q: How much power does the bike make ?
A: Oh Hyosung havent released a figures to anyone

So im thinking ok that could be possible as i have seen the hyosung brocher and from memory it doesnt quote the HP figure, so i pop the ignition on and have a scroll through all the functions and so on, then I ask

Q: How heavy is the bkie?
A: To my amazment he gusses 190kg (lol)

For a fact I already know the actual weight is 155kg (dry)

after a few more random questions I ask when the new 07 hyosung gt250r is comming out and he tells me that they have just landed them in the country and they will have them in next week, he then shows me some pics of them visually they have gone to a black frame and black rims so now im thinking hey I like that, next thing you know im booked in for a test ride next tuesday

But im thinking to myself weather the 07 gt250r has had all the problems that plagued the last bike fixed?

Next up I soot up to Mt Eden Motorcycle's rock on in and again greeted as soon as i jump on a bike(jet black)

this time im greeted by someone that actually looks like the ride a bike young guy who later I find out owns the bright yellow zx10r i spyed on the way in, so straight to the point with this guy I guess

Q:when do you get the new 07 gt250r in ?
A:How did i know you were going to say that, i have some downstairs if you wana look.

So with a very big grin on my face I stroll down into there dungeon where there must be like 50 bikes I spy me a nice black one and dam they look good

pls someone talk me out of it im not a fan of lemons but when they look like sweet juicy apples like the 07 does well ....... all i can think about now is crusing round the streets on a nice new bike

Although a guy at the track today was heard saying that they are korean pieces of shit. Up to you though.

Get a Kawasaki GPX 250, far better pieces of machinery; or a Honda XR250

When you know a bit more about bikes, you'll know you made the right choice.

LMAO yeah i know they are made in a sweet shop and most of the parts are well not the best quality....

I did sit on the new gpx today but it just felt really old even though its a new bike and it come with a two year warranty instead of a twelve month oh and i didnt like the gay graffix kit it had on it some half ass tribal design

Yeah, it's natural to judge something on its appearance. But you'll get so much more enjoyment out of a quality piece of equipment. The GPX is a shitload faster to boot (heard of them doing 160 with a pillion)...

The XR250, what can I say. Typical Honda, will last you years, does 100kmh uphill and down, insane fuel consumption, you can jump it, take it off road, no fairings to break...

A mate of mine bought one yesteday, and we went out for a ride today. I ride a ZXR250c, and halfway around the coast to maraetai we swopped. He lives in wellington, and rode up here yesterday to run in his new bike and catch up with family.
What i noticed when i rode it:

It has a nice flat torque curve, and is quite smooth. It is bigger than most 250's, sort of feels only a bit smaller than a gsxr600(K4), and seems to be relatively stable to ride. I still feel that my ZXR seems to want to corner better (and my mate agreed), and the ZXR as an inline 4 has a fair bit more up and go, in saying that, he had no trouble keeping up with me on the straights, but then i was not really pushing too hard at all.
Overall, it seemed to be a bike that is easy to get on and ride with little 'learning' of the bike. For the price, i would much rather buy a very tidy CBR250rr or a ZXR250c(I have one that is as new, and forsale should you be intersted!) Infact, for that price you could find a reasonable aprilia rs250, so long as you would be competant to ride one without writing it off, and also afford the maintenance bill!

Don't buy an RS250. I've seen those things make grown men cry. CBRs, ZXRs are overpriced and old, don't inflate the already bloated 250 market by paying big $$$ for an ever decreasing pool of shite.

lol i could see myself jumping a bike oneday, not keen on the heavy fuel consumption though I migh just take the gpx for a spin to while im at it, I have nothing really to lose

But are they a pool of shite? i mean what is there to compare them too, if you want a fast 250 fourstroke...what do you buy??? It annoys me too, but such is the laws of economics/ supply and demand.
