This from the same guy who was surprised the cop thought the bike was a 250 when it had 250 stickers on it. Amazing he chose you...

I can just imagine him back at base.

"You will never guess what happened to me tonight, I pulled up a guy who didnt know he was riding a 250. Amazing though, I was just doing my job and he was a real prick about it the whole time"

Surely they would have better things to do. Like figure out why Maori families are killing their own kids, or the bastards throwing shit from overpasses. Or maybe the guys that keep breaking into houses here. Oh yea that's right, those things don't have as much potential for revenue.
This is one thing that kinda gets my hackels up though Waylander. They have cops trying to keep the roads safe, and that involves checking on vehicles that could one day hit you. Then suddenly the tune changes to why arent they making sure our roads are safer.

What would they be checking for though? That the driver is liscenced? I know some kids that are too young to drive legally that are better drivers than most that have liscences.

That the vehicle has insurance so if the accident is there fault insurance would cover it? Fat lot of good that'll do if insurance isn't compulsery.

Warrent and Rego? That one I can understand but no reason to pull someone over for that when they can follow the person for a bit and radio the plate number in. Pull them over if it comes back as unregisterd or unwarrented.

I reckon this guy was just hunting for something and got lost and confused when he couldn't find anything. Have had that happen to me several times since moving down here.

I have heard of random stops revealing some rather interesting events and unsavoury characters. Stolen cars, murderers, suicide hopefuls ect ect. JC could have been a drunk that was riding fine

I understand where you are coing from mate, but I also know its always easier to bag someone and their job than to sit back and think about what good it actually does.

What annoys me is the dobber in people. Just because my cage has an exhaust (for motorsport) they count me as a boy racer. No my car aint slow which is good for getting past slow traffic, but when that slow traffic *555s ya and lies about what has been done really pisses me off so much.

Had it the other weekend between blen and chch. Someone claimed i had passed them on yellow lines and that was complete bullshit, i couldn't believe they made a cop follow up a lie, some people should grow up.

Nothing against the officer thou he was a good guy and listened and said that does happen.

Usually if a bike is stolen, then it would come up as such when they ran a rego check. Or is the NZ police force so behind the times that they don't update thier info when something like that happens?

Foul whisperings are abroad. Unnatural deeds
Do breed unnatural troubles; infected minds
    To their deaf pillows will discharge their secrets;

You betcha ass I knew it was you!!

And re the stolen bikes - yeah sure a rego check will show a bike is stolen - IF the owner knew it was stolen and had reported it.

But some stolen cars/bikes DO get picked up before the owner even knows they're stolen, for that to happen a cop needs to have stopped it and run some checks... - but you knew that too, right?

Yes I did actually. And to be honest I'm not prepared to be stopped for no reason just in case I might be riding a stolen bike. Am I supposed to plan it into my day? "OK I need to leave home 30 minutes earlier in case I get pulled over just to check and make sure that my bike is actually my own."

What do you think the odds are of randomly pulling someone over and it being a stolen vehicle?

Well ya better get your sweet tootie use to getting pulled over for no reason from time-to-time.

Do you think all bike thieves, drunk drivers, disqualified drivers and other forms of dicks just hand themselves in to the Police?

Or do you think they commit some other offence and then get stopped and that's the only way they get found out?

BTW We have returned about 4-5 cars/bikes to owners who never even realised they were stolen, and that's just down here in Sleepy Hollow.

From what I've seen, read or heard about, that's usually the case. Granted it could be something as small as pulling them over to tell them a tail light is out (no ticket) but atleast it's for a reason. I'de want to know if my tail light was out.

How many of those returned were pulled over just to check if it was stolen?
