Yeah but if you ride them hard you'll be needing more than plugs mate don't worry. I had to rebuild the complete top end of my 883 race bike after each national season (6 race meets). Valves, guides, seals and rings.
And they don't do big HP.

The Mighty NC30 would rather blow a rectifier and break down in the middle of nowhere
    IS THAT standard though?

I mean it is common to hear of modern bikes being stranded with holed radiators , every few big rides has one happen, most new bikes dont have em standard.

And it was a cheap alarm that stranded me not anything honda....

I don't know, it was already on my bike when I bought it.
Yeah most new bikes don't have em, maybe its a weight savings thing or perhaps the manufacturers make up their losses with the sales of new radiators

I wasn't saying anything personal I didn't know your NC30 broke down. Its just some Honda's have rectifier faults......
My NSR needed its rectifier replaced, as did a friends. A very common fault.

The hole in rad problem can sometimes be traced back to alot of people running ex race tires which in turn pick up stones alot more easlier and throw them at the following bike, or in turn your own radiator.

Yep every bike has it's faults. With my 1991 GSXR250, it was shitty coils. A know problem with those Suzuki's. Answer was replace them with more reliable Quacker or Honda coils. With the CBR it's the Cam Chain adjuster.

    Shee-it no!

Hence the long distance between top end rebuilds.

Things only need more frequent mechanical attention to cope with more frequent revving and general hammering.......if an engine is grossly understressed and is well maintained it tends to hold together for a long time

    True.

But some engines will do 16k all day long no trouble and last a long time as well due to their design having advanced from push rods etc to gear driven cams etc...

And a generally better balanced and smaller reciprocating mass whirling around inside the engine case helps too!!!

I love these gixer attacks. It's hard being at the top of the pile, everyone is always trying to knock you off!

All depends on what pile you are talking about. Suzukis have a been loosing parts for years .

You dont know what the f... you are talking about!!! My bike had problems after the exhaust was changed and the power valve was removed meaning wiring had to be altered in the loom and was probably not put back in the correct possition, I think you need to get your facts right. A number of Honda Blackbirds I have heard of had the top rear shock mount break off, and the sub frame where the pillion footrests attach buckled, and people still bought them. Any one can get a hole in their radiator and if clutches are abused they will fail, no matter what bike you are on.
