    Anyone imported a bike?

    Hi

I'm looking to import a bike from the states and was wondering if anyone has done this and would have an idea of the costs/problems involved?

    tried calling an importer?

and go to a testing station - they should have all the info on what you need re roadworthiness

    http://www.ltsa.govt.nz/publications...-2-12-usa.html

    http://www.customs.govt.nz/nr/rdonly...0from%20usa%22

    took me 30 seconds

and find someone who is bring hummers or big chev utes in - they may be able to load one on/in the back

as this is under 'off road' he may not want to register it for the road

yeah teh 2 smokes are really really cheap in the US at the moment. I though about it but noone was keen to ship them. cost was about 1000 odd from memory. go via sea and it could be quite cheap.

    Check this out:

If you are interested, PM me as i'm thinking of buying from the US as well.
I just don't understand why NZ'ers pay so much for dirtbikes. There was a comparison in the aussie dirtbike rag regarding bike costs, and NZ came out as one of the most expensive. Maybe we are all just suckers, or NZ is just too small a market.

I've saved $$$ buy buying parts from overseas - ebay especially. I would like to support my local dealer, but not when it costs double!
