Bloody hell...all 3 colliding with the truck?!! Easy to draw the conclusion that the truck was on their patch or road...but I guess we'll have to wait and see...

    RIP

    RIP,
I hope the other two recover fast.
A somber reminder before the long weekend that what we do can be dangerous even if not by our own actions, stay safe out there this weekend.

    Crikey guys... go safe eh?

    Location of incident: Te Kuiti

    Incident Type: Motorcycle -v- Truck

About 1:10 pm. Emergency Services Units were directed to a fatal motor vehicle accident on State Highway 3, near Eight Mile Junction, just south of Te Kuiti in the King Country.

The accident was between a single motorbike rider and large articulated truck, where the motorbike has appeared to have driven into the rear of truck, both of which were heading north at the time.

The motorbike rider, who was a 40 year old male, died at the scene of the accident. His name and details have yet to be verified by Police.

As a result of the accident, traffic is being diverted from State Highway 3 around Te Kuiti via Troopers Road for about the next 3 hours.

Specialist Police Crash Investigators will be examining the crash scene to ascertain the cause of the crash.

Two other single motorbike riders were also involved in the accident and received minor injuries.

Police wish to thank motorists for their patience with the delays and traffic diversion.
