    Hi there

No it didnt work out today, so we arent getting to the top of the country

We rode in torrential rain, until we were stopped just out of Kaitaia heading north by the police to say the roads have been washed out.
    2 bridges out

Still it was amazing riding in the elements, and I am amazed at how good Carissa has started to master the rain!! We are riding slowly and carefully and managed to get through the few flooded roads we encountered!!
We have had heavy showers every other day, but today was something else!!

We have camped up now and we are looking forward to the leg into Auckland if the roads are open

    Speak to you all soon

    Scott

    Thanks for posting Scott.

We were a bit concerned tonight as I heard a bike hit a Camper van and well, you know, it is always bad news but pleased it wasn't you guys. Hope who ever it was is ok. I hear the ambo couldn't get to them and they had to wait a few hours cos the bridge was washed out. The chopper had to fly in.

Tomorrow is a new day and the adventure continues.

    Keep at it.

    Steve

Jeez Scott, every day you have been rained on ... it's following you - right?

BTW, the invitation is cancelled, we're enjoying our first taste of summer and now you lot are going to turn up on Sunday, bring the rain and bugger it all up.

This summer stuff is pretty cool, I have NEVER seen so many bikes on the road as we did Waitangi Day ... and that's excluding our 40.

Sounds like you guys are doing well and making good decisions, must be quite a challenge to keep it all together when it feels like the elements are conspiring against you!

    Keep us posted!

This is the info I have, but I'm gusessing it is not entirely correct, due to the weather gods - can someone please do a sun dance for these guys!

Nah your safe, this is Auckland, we couldn't find one....

A very lovely day, no rain and eventually sunshine.

We met at Wellsford and wandered down SH16 to Helensville to the Suzuki dealer there for photo's for Kiwi Rider ( I hope the've got someone good at photoshop to tidy that lot up)

Then on to west harbour, Greenhithe and eventually Devonport thru the last of the rush hour, everyone was well and truly cooked by the time they got there...I don't know about these adventure riders, complain about a bit of rain, complain about a bit of sun. They're probably going to complain about the snow when they get down south as well.

Anyway I left them settling into a neat old villa near the sea at Devonport and looking forward to a couple of beers....all looked happy!!
