    Safety:

To become old and wise, you first have to be young and dumb:

I saw this tonight, forgive me if any of you have seen it, but as I saw it I was taken back to 1974 when a mate did the same as in the clip attached:

The result was very very bad, she came off "backwards", and hit her head on the road.

The poor kid would be better off dead She's my age now, and totally dependant) Say no more.

And then I thought of the pain as parents her Mum and Dad and fellow siblings must have, and do go through:

I thought as I watched this, you can never stop the foolish exu'berance of youth.

If you are going to PULL A WHEELIE, FOR GOODNESS SAKE TELL HER/HIM TO HANG ON AND THAT YOU ARE GOING TO DO IT, DO NOT SURPRISE YOUR PASSENGER:

He who is scared "first" WIN'S. There but by the grace of God go I:

I seem to recall a follow up on a forum somewhere claiming to be the woman that came off on the 1st clip. It showed the injuries which were quite disturbing.

    Nasty stuff.

Young and dumb about 30 years ago - guilty!

I was pillion behind a nutter who decided that he would do a wheel stand, ahhh, here is me just stitting there.

Well short story long lost about a 5 mm layer off my knee / upper shin about 40 mm wide and 200 mm long. Farked my summer.

Scary stuff. Looking back on dumb stuff I and my mates did when we were a bit younger I can't sit here and tell everyone that the "youth of today" are just dumb little fucks. We used to stand on the parcel tray of my MGB (like an MX5 but with passion) at 70Mph, hold our arms out and "Fly"; arms back, you lean forward, stretch out you go upright, fly left, fly right, FUN. But fucken dumb. None of us got hurt (doing that anyway) but no-one can say idiocy like that and dropping your chick off the back pulling a wheelie is reserved by only the current crop of nutters.

It's been happening since we lived in trees and (unless Aunty Helen gets her smothering, OSH-rules-all way, god save us from that) it will continue to happen for ever. Scares the fuck out of me knowing I've got three sons, two with fresh learners licence and one just about to move on to restricted, that statistically, I may have to scrape one of them off the road. But I wouldn't deny them the opportunity to have the fun I had, I just make sure they see clips like that poor chick face planting the tar and see wrecked bikes (I have a mate who has paint and panel shop and a tow truck). The biggest difference between now and 30 years ago is the awareness of the shit that can happen. Drunk driving, bike crashes weren't even news; hell we didn't even have seatbelts. It was as if bad news was hushed up. Now there's no reason not to be aware of the possible outcomes of recklessness. The biggest thing about this sort of thing is to PLEASE, take no-one else with you. Dick head who stood up and threw away his R1 hurt no-one else and won't have someone else's long term disability on his conscience. Total Fuckwit who dropped his chick on the tar will have her scars on his conscience till he dies. Well the dumb cunt should anyway.

Thinking of that clip of that girl on the back, I can remember I was on the back of a mate's Z750 when we were at a set of lights in Palmy when we got the green he went for it. All I could do was think was this was going to hurt, but luckilly as we were going to the moon my legs hooked under my mate's arms and the helmet just touched the road. When we pulled up later, we had a good laugh about it.

Yea I have seen the clip of the chick falling off a few times and each time it sickens me... Such a simple thing to do, put gear on... but so many people find out the worst way how important it is.

And for anyone new to biking or wanting to get silly this is a good website to look at. http://home1.gte.net/res0ak9f/bike.htm

The author is pretty down on bikes which sucks but I think its good to understand that we are living dangerously on two wheels....

Matey as I said the Exuberance and foolishness of youth, Ask yourself this, if you hurt yourself and became a vegetable,or died even and your mate went to jail for negligence etc etc, I invite you to think and ponder about it for just a minute:
Scarey aint it, and you say he's your mate> do you trust him enought to get on the back again:

Zapf and Jeremy W, good contributions.
