    That's all folks...

Well i thought that my VTR1000F 1999 was doing well. However, i had a lady pull out in front of me on Friday 27th. I turned left on to New North Road (green arrow), just hit 2nd gear and she pulled out of side street on my right, in heavy traffic. She saw me and stopped in front of me and left me no-where to go. BANG. I hit her front wheel on the passengers side and the impact was enough to shear the entire front of my bike away from the frame. My bike was in 2 main peices. I flew accross the bonnet, over the other side, landing on my back. I stood up straight away and thought to myself "i dont wanna get run over ". She was driving a brand new Lexus. My bike is a f**ken write off. It can not be repaired at all. I only got a fractured right elbow, and lots of legs muscle pain from collecting everything on the way over the bars. I could fly.

So when insurance pays out (yes, i had FULL insurance. The works with protecta insurance) i want the 2000 ZX12R. Does anyone have one, and what do they think of them?

Bad luck mate and pleased to hear you are OK.

    I've tried a ZX12R. That's a bike that WILL do 280km/hr.

Na, the reality of it all is that the VTR was not the bike i thought it would be. I spent a lot of time trying to get it, 5 weeks later its a paperweight. It quickly runs out power, dosnt handle well at all, overall. Im going up to the 1200cc to 1300cc inline four range.

Oh well, fun while it lasted.

    Are you really that "challenged"?

If you want something with loads of power and beautiful handling then just get any 2004+ 600cc or 1000cc sports bike.

The whales do not handle, in comparison.

fair enough comment, but i will need to raid the bank to get that bit further up the chain of nice, mean horsepower busting bikes.

Im getting there. I really want to get onto the 05 GSXR1300. That will be a nice day when i do, and if i do the right things with my payout, i may just be able to get it. I want warp speed factor going on.

Good to see you came out of the prang OK. Seriously tho you sure you need to do warp speed on a Haysbusa? You wont be posting much on KB not long after you get it methinks.

GLad to hear you are basically ok, best of luck with the replacement. Just for interest sake did the cops attend your off? Was the woman charged with anything?

I just love being on the bike. Its feels so natural. To have HP at the ready is just a really thing. Of course, it pays to have some caution.

Hope you're injuries pass the painful stage quickly.

Although I haven't ridden a VTR since yesterday, I would have thought it had enough power for most riders on most New Zealand roads. A race track would be different.

From the little information in your post it's hard to assess but I'd be interested to know how much you know about target fixation and what to do about it. (And the state of your motorcycling knowledge generally.)

It might sound unkind, but the cold fact is you've just failed a real world driving test. Perhaps you should be considering buying a smaller bike not a bigger one?

    Thumbs up

Go the ZX12R, I've got an 05 B4 and they're awesome fun, a bit snappy low down on the B1 and 2's I think before they went to the oval throttle bodies, but loads of fun......
