i'll add my sensible 2c of the day, spend it wisely now kids.

I think we should avoid these threads because I'm sick of wankers (and we ALL masturbate occasionally, some of us more occasionally than others) expressing fake emotion and outpourings of grief over people so far removed from them that it's sickening. Hell, we all wear shoes, do we get all upset when another shoe wearer passes away?

And on the other hand, as in this case, scorn and disapproval because they incorrectly thought someone had ridden off the road pissed.

People die, it's bad. People ride after a beer, it's bad. I'd rather take the piss than judge cos I'm no fuckin angel and life's stressful enough.

Or maybe we should all just say what we think people want to hear, mmkay?

Why on earth you would ride drunk I'll never know, you need balance and complex motor skills even more so on a bike than in a car. I've never once been tempted.

So the Police can happily stuff up every judgement call they make knowing it won't affect them but that innocent people may be pushed to the brink of losing their houses over legal costs they should never have had to pay in the first place?

Tell me it ain't so please - tell me there is always a full reimbursement to the accused of all losses of earnings and legal expenses if they are found to be innocent of the charges.

I am hoping this is false and just another piece of Anti NZ Propoganda designed to make me return to the UK.

so the guy who's found not guilty because of a legal loophole should be reimbursed? or the guy who's found not guilty because only 11 (instead of 12) thought he was guilty?

unfortunately being found 'innocent' is not available here. i think it's scotland that has that finding.

and i'm sure if the police stuffed up EVERY prosecution that the judiciary would start awading costs - they do now for some matters.

of course, on the flip side, there's wankers bleeding millions out of legal aid when EVERYONE knows they're guilty in the first place - when they're found guilty should they be made to pay for their wasted defence? if you drove pissed, got legal aid, tried to get off on a technicality, but got found guilty, and the law was that you had to pay for your failed defence, would you?

All I know is everytime you show up in cort it cost $130 bucks at least, even if the charge agaisnt you is found to be false/untrue/your innocent. Its happend to me more than once. (and also to my grandfather) The nice thing is that judges generally dispise traffic cops, every time ive been in there the judge has had a big go at the police for wasting time, and Im the one who has to PAY for that time >_<

Surely they would of breath tested the guy on the scene? I know they test me everytime I crash, weather im in the abmbulance or stuck under a hedge! Im gussesing they breath tested him, he failed and they took a boold sample?

Yes, of course, absolutely.

If the guilty are found NOT guilty that is a failing in the justice system - not an excuse to go around bankrupting the innocent and allowing the police more teeth than they should be entitled to.

Back home now, the pc on the rig bloody too slow, men queing up for it and so forth, so could not really put in the time to read, think and reply appropriately............also had the time to cool down and take stock of this fucked up situation myself and my family has found itself in.........

Yes I've abused some here, bloody deserved it too. Too many people on here too quick to jump in and put the boot in when all the facts are unknown.

To slander a fellow biker, I find that abhorrent.

For those who asked after my brother and wished him well, thank you.

At this stage it appears (in my view) that speed was the major factor in this accident. My brother appears to have just wiped out on a straight bit of road before entering a slight right sweeper, so its a mystery how this happened, maybe a car exiting the sweeper on his side of the road, speed wobble and then a highside seems more likely with huge speed, he's hit the road with a hell of a force, this may well be a mystery as Butch does not appear to remember, and most likely never will.

He is back in the Wanganui ICU where he has a very long healing process to endure. He has a brain injury, extent unknown, but after 2 weeks has made good progress.

To the people who helped Butch in his hour of need, Michelle (who the family will thank personally in due course), the ambo's, Patrick (although your comments here pissed me off!) and the others, I wish to thank whole heartily.
Our family will be forever grateful that Michelle stopped that evening.
