No worries McJim! On ya for passing into the R ranks! Knew you wouldn't have a problem - good on ya fer stickin' to ya guns on the L issue (not that you give two hoots about it now!)
Kudos to others that have passed also![]()

Congrats m8
And good luck to your better half for her upcoming 6R too!
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
What did you have to do for the test?
anything out of the ordinary?![]()
Nope - just ride around for 25 minutes paying attention to speed limits, traffic lights and the difference between Stop signs and Give way signs...indicating correctly as I went. Did a U turn and a hill start.
Was tempted to say "2 hand jobs and a blow job" but that would have been cheeky.

Well done on the 6R!
As painful as they are, the Cage-based Defensive Driving course is the way to go with regards to getting the 6R down to 3 months.
It was quite a strange feeling sitting in the course I completed - I was the oldest "student" in there, and it gave me a real insight into the way the slightly younger mind works when it comes to driving...
Most of them were in the age range of 17-23, and were there for a number of reasons...
1. Most (including myself) were there to get the "R" time down
2. A pair were there because their employers included the course as part of their ongoing job training requirements
3. One chap was there as a result of being sent there by the courts! (Careless use was the charge)
Believe it or not, I actually re-reminded myself of some things you take for granted normally after having driven for a few years (23 in my case).
And the big plus was the preparation you received for the Full test - especially the "blurt out the hazards you see" side of things.
Myself, I have found that to be the most challenging aspect, as talking to your self doesn't come naturally
The Assessment Drive at the completion of the course was pretty much what I could expect on the day of the full test (granted, on a bike it will be much different - hopefully I will get the 2-way radio approach, rather then the "pull over and remember the hazards" approach).
To this end I have gone and acquired a bike-to-bike intercom setup, so if the Tester doesn't have the radios on the day, I will give him one of mine to complete it with.
Hazard Identification (from what the guy told me on the assessment) will be the key portion of the test... 3 key points to describe...
1. Describe what you see as far as you can see ahead
2. Slowly scan back from that point describing what you see - things like Side streets, Pedestrians, oncoming traffic, traffic in front etc etc
3. Tell what you see behind you as well...
I will post something separate once i have completed the full test on December 6th, to assist anyone else who is approaching this similar point in their Class 6...
So, the DDC is $170 well spent in my view, for the good info described above...![]()
I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not so sure...
Hi McJim, congrats, was that you I saw with a green 'look for bikes' vest out Whitford way the other day? I was trying to have a perv at your bike but you ended up doing a u turn on Sandstone and going back?
Go the SV650, great bike!
PS: congrats

well done you lucky bastard,no more friggin L plate. when you doing your defensive?
I lost my licence and i havent riddin all month!!!- YEAH RIGHT
Could be me....if it was overcast I wear my cordura jacket with the vest but if the weather is fine then I wear me leathers (bright red and white - don't need the hi-vis so much!)
It's most likely to have been Searchin' as he's out that way too and has a VTR250 and a Hi vis vest as described too.
If it was Friday morning than it may have been me caning it out Whitford way in elation at having passed the test that morning!
