    My name’s David and I’m a Jacketaholic.

In this episode BD adds another one!

A while ago I rang White’s Powersports with the news that I was doing the test and photo shoot on the Harley Softail Custom for the pages of January Kiwi Rider.

As it could even be on the cover I wanted to borrow some gear that would suit the bike and the importers/wholesalers welcome the exposure - (Placement is the new buzz word in advertising and guess who tells them that?)

So I ask for a lend of a Shoei Relic XR1000 Helmet in matt black with white dragon motif. A Tecnic ‘Blade’ Jacket was also dispatched sight unseen, but I was assured it fitted the brief.

The helmet was beautiful, light and quiet, but I’ve got 2 Shoeis on the shelf already so it went back…but I can’t help myself…I…kept the jacket.

‘Send me the invoice’ I says.

It’s just soooo nice. It’s going to be great for the supposedly long hot summer on the way – it has huge vents in the chest and arms, all the armour in the right places, a really nice ‘matt’ finish with some olde school biker style – I really like the waistcoat look and the way it’s integrated into a stylin’ summer jacket.

Comfy as, reasonably high tech in an olde style cut. Minter.
RRP is $649. Lou can get them - so can motomail.

I need more coat hangers, Janet.

My Tecknic Chicane textile jacket is excellent. I wear it almost everywhere. And it really is perfectly waterproof. Hasn't been crash tested though

Yeah - comes with being nearly 2 mtrs tall - I use a 'Buff' brand product a lot.

The jacket closes over to normal height as well.

But I also wear an open face helmet a lot of the time too. Builds character.

Did the tassles fall off Dave?

That's definitely one of the best cruiser jackets I've seen. Your arms are too long as well as your neck! Lots of exposed skin or was it just a tad the wrong size.
I'm on my second Tecknic jacket (cordura for winter use) and the quality is really good. Didn't know they did leather - cruel bastards.

Nah - it's for summer - I see that as an advantage - and they are up on ape hangers. Fits real well.
impact and drag points are well covered.

My leathers ( 2 piece ) and Round town jacket (leather ) are both Tecknic and going strong after a few years of abuse. The jacket was worn every day to uni and literally thrown on the ground for years and looks just like when I got it still, good gear.

Good - quieter than my X-spirit. And far quieter than those not from the top shelf IYKWIM.
Motomail will let you test ride one.

I was on a stock softail custom media bike in over a grands worth of borrowed gear - 200kph - yeah right!
