That was the bike I lusted after back in the late 70s. When I wrote off my first bike (t-boned a car that didn't give way), I had to travel by bus for a while. Although I never for a moment considered giving up biking, there was a guy in my home town that had one, and used to rip around on it riding like a complete cock. That really gave me the shits - couldn't see him living long.
I had a mate at varsity that bought a Darmah from the proceeds of selling dope during the summer holidays: went from a ratty old CB350 to a Suzuki 750 to the Darmah in a matter of a few weeks.
I nearly bought a 750SS back in '94ish, but I was too long thinking about it, and missed out. But I've threatened the wife that the next "last" bike (the last 4 have been "The last bike you'll ever own, so enjoy it!") will be a Ducati, to go with the keyring I bought in Chch back in 1995.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

If I hadn't bought the MHR I might have been tempted by this

Seems expensive though, are Darmahs going for that kind of money now?

For a mock-up of a SSD Darmah it's been done pretty well, though some things are wrong
wonder what the reserve is ??

We're not all train spotters who have to have all the correct nuts and bolts

And a lot of bikes ex Ducati factory are pretty much parts bin specials anyway

a simple eye-ometer spots the obvious things

In 81 they weren't quite at the point of digging into the bins for the Darmahs

Ducati have been digging in their parts bins since time began, the SSD was just a Darmah with some extra bits added on

I dressed my Darmah up the same as that but it was in the Burgundy colour, the fairing made it a lot easier to keep up on Ducati Club rides, not that we'd ever speed of course
