    Riding in bus lane

Some may remember my post about a workmate getting a $500 fine for riding in a motorway bus lane. I helped with a letter to the Pleece and he's just found out that the fine has been waived. They are still investigating the cops behaviour when stopping him.
A small victory for commonsense perhaps?
It's a shame about all the others who just paid their fines though.

I don't recall your post, Lou, but I got a ticket for the same myself and it was $150, no demerits, "failing to comply with gazetted traffic sign" or somesuch. Which seemed appropriate. I didn't write a letter because there weren't any mitigating circumstances other than my own ignorance.

Not that I agree that bikes should be kept off the motorway bus lanes, though. Very dumb idea that is. 'Transit' lanes? Bah.
kiwibiker is full of love, an disrespect.

In wellington we have very few bus lanes and I think all of them in the city proper.....any way our council has decided they need to police these lanes so hey one of the councillers saw this idea in London.... set up cameras that are computer linked to the rego registry that way tickets can be sent out straight away......damn I wish I had thought about spending approx 1 million dollars to police 5 0r 6 short bus lanes.......only take approx 65 years to pay for them.......I gather that people in the know are saying that only 1 or 2 cars a week use these lanes and then that is generally because they are ignorant of them.

    Had a bad day, Spud?
I'll use the description that's appropriate to the situation. Why should I abuse one of the few remaining Policemen with commonsense.

All I was refering to was your choice of language. If you want to appear more hip and groovy than you are then try "Five Oh's" or "Po Po", which are popular amongst todays losers.
