Gift-bearing biker turned away from old people's home… is George Clooney

When a member of staff at a Lake Como old people’s home saw a leather-clad biker approaching, she refused him entry, despite his bearing gifts for the residents. The biker? None other than local resident… and Hollywood star George Clooney.

The actor makes regular visits to the Sacred Heart rest home, giving the residents DVDs of classic movies and his own films. He has always requested staff at the home keep his visits private. However, after being refused permission to provide gifts by the over-zealous staff member, he had to break anonymity.

His publicist Stan Rosenfeld said "George does this sort of thing but it's not for public recognition. I wouldn't want to say anything else."

that sucks it does not matter if the biker is someone famous or joe normal person, the fact of the matter is how it was handled, and although this may have happened in the we are starting to see this kind of behaviour filter through our society.
Its not the destination that is important its the journey.

It's an unfortunate human trait to generalise based on appearances - motorcyclists should try to stop being guilty of it too and assuming all cyclists and car drivers are twats for example.

You are absolutely right - I assume they are all twats who are trying to kill me with their stupidity.

Ain't that the truth - I feel the same way about motorcyclists when I'm on my bicycle. But I endeavour to transcend the red mist!

We don't generalise that they ALL are.

But, the unfortunate fact is that MANY are.

And as they don't come with big signs attached saying "I'm a twat" or "I'm actually OK", it makes good survival sense to assume that any given cyclist or car IS a twat, until they prove otherwise.

This downside of this assumption, when incorrect , is , possibly, an annoyed cyclist or driver. The downside of any other assumption, when incorrect, is, possibly, me dead or horribly injured.

Guess which assumption I'm going to run with.

That right there is why I have more respect for Clooney than any other star that does charity work.

People like Bono, Angelina fishlips and such seem to only really be doing it to get their name out there. Yea they are really helping out and shit and good on them but their ulterior motives ruin it.

    Hmm?

    No, no. I do.

Look, it's embroidered on the back of my lycra jersey, see?

I had it put there especial, like, just so's you filthy motorcycling types'd have summat to gaze at while I run red lights and sit beside my twatty buddies in the middle of the lane at 15kph on slow, narrow open-road climbs.

Nyah ha ha, and, may I venture to add, HA.

I showed this to somebody and they said "I don't think she turned him away because he's a biker, I think she turned him away because he was George Clooney"

Shows what people think of George Clooney these days
