Gift-bearing biker turned away from old people's home… is George Clooney

When a member of staff at a Lake Como old people’s home saw a leather-clad biker approaching, she refused him entry, despite his bearing gifts for the residents. The biker? None other than local resident… and Hollywood star George Clooney.

The actor makes regular visits to the Sacred Heart rest home, giving the residents DVDs of classic movies and his own films. He has always requested staff at the home keep his visits private. However, after being refused permission to provide gifts by the over-zealous staff member, he had to break anonymity.

His publicist Stan Rosenfeld said "George does this sort of thing but it's not for public recognition. I wouldn't want to say anything else."

We don't generalise that they ALL are.

But, the unfortunate fact is that MANY are.

And as they don't come with big signs attached saying "I'm a twat" or "I'm actually OK", it makes good survival sense to assume that any given cyclist or car IS a twat, until they prove otherwise.

This downside of this assumption, when incorrect , is , possibly, an annoyed cyclist or driver. The downside of any other assumption, when incorrect, is, possibly, me dead or horribly injured.

Guess which assumption I'm going to run with.

That right there is why I have more respect for Clooney than any other star that does charity work.
