I found the Intruder has better ground clearance and handling then the Shadow, and also seemed to have slightly better performance in an all round sense. Obviously performance is a relative term when talking cruisers! lol
As for reliability, with only basic maintenance and servicing both went without missing a beat for over 2 years each.
I have also noticed that parts for Honda seem to be kinda pricey compared to others.

I have ridden both bikes and despite being a honda person, In this instance i would go with the suzuki. The newer ones i believe are 800cc. I liked the simplistic styling of the suzuki, Shaft drive is a boon(as long as there is nothing wrong with it). Low seat height. Infact iam trying to get my mrs one but she keeps insisting on a Triumph. Comingh back to your question i guess you could'nt go wrong with either of them. Though the VS700 is cheap as chips to buy(2,500 to 4,000 would be a fair price to pay depending on condition)
Hi, recently brought a VT750 myself. I must admit that it is not cbr1100 Blackbird but hey ya cant have everything aye. I sold a Bird and got the Shadow so I could save some points on the license before I lost them all. I am starting to enjoy the Shadow now the weather is more predictable. Only problem I can say I have is occassionally I lock the back wheel when changing down to fast, I guess a shaftie will do that. Otherwise it is a sweet ride, even on the Rimutaka's![]()
I'm much in the same boat, thinking ahead when I get my in 2007. I'm near 6ft [183cm] and sat very low on the Shadow and with its pegs that little bit forward, my initial feeling was not too good. I sat on the S50 Boulevard and the pegs are not as far forward, a little further forward than the GN of course, and must say this suited me better I think. Will go for a demo ride for sure.
Are all the Boulevard bikes made in Japan, please don't tell me some are from China?
