    Dealing with buffoons

Last night, I was just about to turn into my road, when someone started crossing from one pavement to the other. So obviously, I stopped - not wishing to run someone over.

The buffoon behind me sounded his horn and shouted at me.

My road has a series of speed bumps in it. Including the raised bit at the entrance, I have to ride over five of them. And the *top* speed is 20mph.

So obviously, bearing in mind the weather, I bore the speed limit in mind...

... and rode the entire length of the road at 14mph. Which REALLY got him annoyed.

I pulled over at the entrance to my driveway, and as expected he was winding the window down to shout at me again. Only to find I was looking him straight in the eye, whilst raising two fingers very firmly in his direction... and he looked away quickly, accellerated and smacked into the next bump quite hard.

With a little luck he will have damaged his exhaust...

Of course the other way to deal with them is to give a cheery wave and a big beaming smile, possibly with a happy "Hello!" - this is often just as annoying....

Blowing them a kiss can do it too :-)

Nice one Bob. I actually get more satisfaction from the friendly wave, especially when some one closes a gap on the motorway and doesn't let you merge or something.

If I'm feeling schizo I'll do a nice friendly wave to make them feel embarrassed and then hit them with a big

I'll give people like that the thumbs up, and maybe if they can hear me yell something like "you're the winner!" in a really sarcastic overly enthusiastic way. Most people wouldn't have a clue how to deal with this response.

But he might have initially been tooting the pedestrian for not giving way.

I might have ridden round the block so my home address was not so obvious... but it sounds to me like you did fine.
