Just picked it up today. Will spend the weekend riding it in delivering t-shirts.

Ha! So much for test riding it next week. Let me guess, you went in during the week, went for an hour long blat, came back with a big grin on your face and had to have it? C'mon, that's it, isn't it?

    WHO-O-O-O-SH!!!
    "What was that?"
    "That was your life mate."
    "Oh, do I get another?"
    "Sorry mate, that's your lot."

And today, there's yesterdays hero, a poor red SV650 being hosed down outside Colemans looking all used and rejected....

But for a new bike -

Bugger!!! How the hell am I gonna improve on the 650 and keep up with you at Puke now? BTW when are you taking it to Puke?

So how are you running it in? Manufacturers instructions? or running it hard from the off?

Sticking to the manufacturers recommendation, but not adverse to revving it past the limit on occasion. Was told not to feather it too much.

As soon as it is ridden in, I will be going down to the next open day at Puke.

Yeah, somone posted that link on my sv1000 site. The say the first 20 miles is the most important. Problem is a new bike usally already has about 5-10 kms on the clock before you pick it up. Would want to see that view of break-ins on other sites or mags to see if other professionals agree with it.

On another point, the first thing I want to get rid of on this bike is the bloody huge fender.

I want to do what jimbo77 said he did to get rid of it. It sounds easy and cheap. I also found these really cool plate lights.

    Question

Does anyone know who could make a custom fender that is only just big enough to hold the plate and indicators. The fender is not connected to the undertray so it shouldn’t be too hard to make a custom replacement.
