Wasn't a scooter... I saw a red GN250 with an L plate and a Toyota Caldina station wagon stopped further up. A guy in shirt and tie (presumably biker) was sitting up and getting an oxygen thing put on. He seemed shaken but ok...

"Shirt and tie" Any sign of 'protective gear'?
I'm only wearing black until they develop something darker

The bike on the hard shoulder just before the northbound split between the gorge or hutt was a red 125cc scoot, epicuro kind of thing.

The GN might have been a seperate accident
