    Advice needed on anti-cat spraying

Until recently we had a leaking roof on my carport. For several weeks now I have noticed my tyres been a little wet in patches and thought nothing of it. Now with the roof on, I noticed a small wet patch on Saturday and on Sunday caught the neigbours tom running off after making another deposit.

The bike is fully covered so its more of a hygience matter than anything esle but I would appriecate if anyone can offer advise on a natural cat repellent that doesn't require a shotgun, poison, dog, gintrap or other more permanet solutions. I recall there was some mention of a similar problem some months ago. Are there any decent commercial products that actually work as well that members have used to good effect??
Then came the day when cages were confined to zoos.. and the bipedals ruled the earth again.. Tu@ advt # 666 Return of the beasties

Take one can of tuna, open it and leave it in a very sunny damp spot for 3 or 4 days, then put it where the cat comes to make mess. Cat will eat it, get sick and hopefully never come back.
Otherwise, cats hate being sprayed with water, everytime that you see it, spray the prick with cold water. It only took two squirts for a cat i had issue with to not only keep the hell away, but to run away from me every time i came near it. Bloody funny.
Nail your colours to the mast that all may look upon them and know who you are.

If you love it, let it go. If it comes back to you, you've just high-sided!

"VitaPet" (1-13 Kaiwharawhara Road, Wellington) make a spray bottle solution called "Home and Garden Animal Repellent" which works really well. Just spray it on the ground around your bike and maybe on the cover as well and it will keep any cats away. Should be able to get it at the supermarket of vet.
Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

Try Vita Pet Cat and Dog Repellant, available from New World.

Alternatively, oil of citronella or Jeyes Fluid.

When you clean the cat peed on area Don't use ammonia base products as it will attract the cat back to spray there again.
I find the citronella oil works for a lot of people.
If it was your cat I'd use Feliway which is a synthetic facial pheromone of cats. It helps makes them more settled & not feel the need to mark the territory which is what the cat is doing.
You can set up a trap & spray it with water when it is entering the garage, scares most off.

There's a product called 'Get off my garden' which is green jelly crystals. It's quite strong-smelling but not in a terribly unpleasant way. Cats and dogs hate it apparently and I have always found it to be good - even with areas I want to keep my own cats away from. I think you can get it from Bunnings. It's not easy to source but it is very effective. Most vets will have a good range of products and will be able to offer some good, sensible advice.

The problem you'll have is with the rain - most products are not water-resistant and you'll have to reapply once it's rained. Gets expensive! But one old tom has gotten the message, the cost should drop off

If you have a good relationship with your neighbours you could always ask them if he's been castrated and if not, maybe offer to go halves for the cost of the op? That quite often sorts out spraying problems. He might even be stressed (maybe a new cat has moved into the area?) and I'm sure the neighbours would want to know so that they can take him to the vet for a check up and some advice if needs be.

The water thing is good, but of limited use if you're out when he's coming round.

if you can catch it, give it a bog wash. Just make sure the lid is down when you flush

I would take the un PC option and say use extermination, or as others before me have said "just shoot the fukin thing", cats are bludging introduced pests.
I am not a cat fan.

well with snails you can grab a few .. put them through the blender, then spray them on the plants, other snail will stay away ...

seems to me the same theory may work for cats

Get a Super Soaker from the Warehouse and keep it full and handy for those cat moments.
