The second vid in this thread has got Twilight road in it at slightly more than Nana speed for those who didn't see it first time round (looking at youtube everyone looked at Ardmore Quarry road clip and ignored Twilight for some reason)
They didn't ignore it they just fell asleep watching Ardmore Quarry ....... LOL

sorry it was just way too easy

Haha McJim, 1:38min into the Twilight Rd vid is where the 4x4 came at me(the side you're riding on).. I had checked the Ardmore vid but not the Twilight one. Great vid!

I never saw any chickens though, they must have been known a newbie was coming.

Brett: Damn I must have just missed you, I didn't see any bikers at all today.. I was kind of hoping to see one going my way onto the road so I could let them pass and see how they do it :P

I live in Otara North (sometimes called Howick) and have done Twilight more than a couple of times. I totally agree about the wet and slippery nature of the beast after rain and in the early morning. It is easier Clevedon to Whitford as it is uphill most of the way, but regardless of which direction you are going in, it sure teaches you about blind corners. Did the BRONZ course at Whenuapai on Sunday and I shall now try late apexing as a better technique with which to attack the ride.

It will always be a challenge but a great learning experience when treated with respect.

    Twilight Road is real cool

BUT if you want a little more open, faster corners and sweepers then give Monument road a go. facing North towards Clevedon, it is normally dry, even in winter and is a very good stretch of motorcycling road. Head out from Clevedon near the monument and head up the hill over the top to Hunua. You'll love it

Monument is also one of my favourite roads out that way!

After reading this thread and seeing McJim's movie, I'm off to do twilight road! Well technically I'm not really doing it... my rider and his SV1000S will be doing it and I'll be doing what I do best - just klinging on.

I expect there will be about a million Kiwi Bikers doing it after the promotion it's had by McJim & company. See you all at the Clevedon Cafe.

wheeee! Twilight road is fun! So are lots of roads around there. The coast is going to look STUNNING in a couple of weeks when all the puhutukawas are in full bloom. And what a lot of blooming bikers! Everyone seemed to be out and about today.

McJim, are you getting paid by the Clevedon Tourist Promotion Board?

I'm still waiting to get paid by the Scottish tourist Board....and the last time I lived there was 1999!

I'll not hold my breath for any payment - there are a few other roads I would like to run a camera over in the future - I'll post them on youtube again and embed them in my 'Vid' thread.

I rode Twilight for the first time last Friday not knowing the "reputation" that it beholds. Being from the BOP, I was tailing my mate on his ZX14 not knowing where the hell I was Certainly some of the corners reminded me of some you would see in the mountain stages on the Tour De France!

    She's a beauty!!
