    The First Ride

I was sitting at home today, and had to go in to work for a brief moment. My new (to me) 2005 GIXXER 600 has been sitting in the garage unused except for the odd run around the block to keep lubricated, so unlike the previous hundred times, i was unable to take the ZXR, I had to take the GIXXER.
I thought that i would just head out on a slow country ride through maraetai - clevedon. This was the first time i have ridden a midweight bike on the open road (motorway not included).

It was all very tame riding untill i came onto a straight where i was stuck behind two cages. I was in 5th gearand pulled out to lazily overtake. All was going well untill i spy a car approaching, so i chopped it down to thrid and the beast just LEAPED forward with the front wheel ever so slightly raised.
Well that got a grin from ear to ear, back down to legal limit and just meandering through the country (cant go getting caught unlicenced on my new bike just days before i get my full!)

I had a bit of a play through some of the quiter twisties, and man was i surprised how agile it is. I just seem to look into a corner and it drops effortlessly into them and it feels so incredibly stable. - You were right tex, they ARE much easier to corner quicker on. I am still not nearly as quick as i am on the zxr, however i can see that within a very short period of time i will get the hang of this new machine and be able to ride just as well.

So in summary, this was the first ride on the gsxr 600, and i love it.

I looked at getting one, they sure are a bit cheaper, however the reason i got the gixxer is that when i have a bit more coin i want to make it a race bike and get another road bike.

Yeah man, after a good wash, it actually looked brand new, seriously, the only fault i coul pick up was a small scratch under the bottom of the fairings and one stone chip under the bottom of the top fairing. It has been a well looked after bike, or at least it seems so at this point...touch wood.
