Add my name onto that list. Will have to keep an eye out for it at the library.

Title : Proficient motorcycling : the ultimate guide to riding well /
    Author : Hough, David L., 1937-

I think it's a better book than Twist of the Wrist 2 for road riding.

Yep, 1st book I read on how to learn the art of Motorcycling! I even got the 2nd book Mastering the Ride by the same author, just need to swap the pictures/diagrams over to NZ context (this is a good thing since it really makes you think and reflect about what info is being conveyed)

I got Twist of the Wrist 'cause I want to one day head out on the track and go hell-for-leather!

Bascially anytime I can get my hands on info, I'll read and re-read it and then compare it to everything else I have found out.

I also got Basic Motorcycling Maintenance, which is a handy-dandy book to know everything about how to maintain, replace and troubleshoot probs with your bike...my personal library is being overtaken by books on two wheels of freedom now!

    Wrong country I know but
Motorcycle Roadcraft: The Police Rider's Handbook (UK)
    ISBN: 011341143X
Is orientated to riding safely on the road - and on the left! - read this then put it together with twist of the wrist gives you some idea of when they concur and what is best left to the track.

I must admit I haven't read any basic learn to ride books, I just practised crashing until I got the hang of it. I am not convinced that at a basic level there is very much to learn other than the skills that become obvious when riding.
A twist of the wrist is a favourite of mine as it teaches advanced skills but its really sportsbike / racing oriented, so not much use unless your interested in that type of riding.
I would suggest you look at books of motorcycle travel / adventure, they are inspiring and get you well fired up to get out and ride, and, that is what its all about in my (not very humble) opinion.
So.... try "The long way round", "The last Hurrah", "One good run" and their ilk.

Get her to buy you a bike shop gift voucher instead. Then you can get more bits for your bike or for you...
