An older four stroke twin like a CB.
    Reasonable power,low key,reliable,easy to ride.
Not the end of the world if it gets dropped...Good first bike.
    I don't think $2000 would get a good CBR250.. ?

I thought you had an NSR.

    Gpz1000. Suits me just fine.

----------->DONT<---------- buy a shit cbr or zxr 250, they are alot of trouble and very expensive to repair and they are un reliable (before you get up tight mattrsk I said shit cbr's) They are very high performance machines and require alot of maintanice.

If you can ride, buy what ever you want.

If you can't ride or are nervous get a slower bike (the 150's are very nice).
Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot

No I agree. If you buy a lemon expect it. If you can get hold of a good one and have the ability and cash to maintain it, your onto a winner.

After much shopping around.... And putting alot of thought into my decision... This is what I chose... Only cost me $199.00... And I must say looks absolutely stunning when you stop at the lights dressed in nothing but beautiful pink lycra.... Awesome pickup on this baby too... She's a bit fast for me..Very economical on gas too..!!!

A real babe magnet, [for a certain value of "babe", where "babe" = paedophile.]

2000 will give you your pick of the 250cc market, which is so reasonably priced due to the small enginecapacity of course!! turbo gn!!

Deepnds on what you want to do with it

Open road, commuting, trail / offroad

If you look for a slightly older bike in good condition, even spend the money getting a pre-purchase check done if buying privately you should be able to pick up something that will meet your needs

Most bikes if looked after properly are reliable, but a sports bike needs a little more care then a touring bike as they are usually more highly tuned

If you are going to commute then a sports bike can be very good, but open road a touring style is better for the distances and time spent on the bike.

Finding something that fits you is very important, the seat height can make a big difference in stop start traffic, you don't want to be always stretching to get your foot down, or aternatively if you are very tall you don't want to be so cramped as to become uncomfortable
If you can't be good, be good at it
