Hawke's Bay accident, 25 November. What happened?

This crash was recorded in Monday's Hawke's Bay today:

    (Saturday)
'A 65 year old man had to be air lifted to Hawke's Bay Hospital after his bike and a second bike collided. Waipukurau constable Neil Baker said one of the riders failed to take a corner and the motorbikes, which where travelling in opposite directions, had collided. Mr Baker said no charges had been laid but investigations were continuing.'

One of the guys concerned was a guy on a Hayabusa, he was on a Classic club run, that had stopped at the Otane pub. Me, Frog and Gook meet up with everyone there, Me and Frog left before this guy, and Gook left after. Gook passed this guy on the way back to the Classic Club. We got a call at the club rooms about a van being needed to pick up the bike. So we didnt think it was that serious, but the van was turned away by the police.

Are they alright? How did it happen?

The other rider was on the IMOC trip. That rider is OK (ish) with just punctured and broken bits.

Your guy (mr Hayabusa) is in a bit of a bad way after he clipped the other bike causing many cartwheels and ending up on the opposite side of a fence. heliocopter evac.

I was NOT there - but have had the eyewitness report and it's reasonably obvious what happened but lets not discuss here because he is in a bad way and the Police have not finished their investigations eh?

We were out HW50 Hastings on Sunday (in the ute) and there were heaps of bikes on the roads.
Seemed a lot of Harleys, and small groups of Jappas.

Probably some Mod who thought that the initial attempt lacked clarity and usefulness.
