I popped in and saw him yesterday. He is better and at the Otara Spinal Unit (Bairds Rd). People are seeing him and so if you can please do. The road to recovery is slow and boring and will be a physical and mental challenge.

"...New Zealanders, for all their faults, have virtues that are precious: an unwillingness to be intimidated by the new, the formidable, or class systems; trust in situations where there would otherwise be none; compassion for the underdog; a sense of responsibility for people in difficulty; not undertaking to do something without seeing it through - "

Visiting hours are technically 11am - 9pm, but I think he prefers afternoons (will check up on that).
Crashe, I got off mway at East Tamaki rd, turned left, then you can turn left into bairds rd not long after at a set of lights. Follow that back over the motorway, the spinal unit is number 30 and on the right hand side.
Hey Jill and Paul - haven't been able to visit because I have an overseas guest (from the 15th!!) but you've been on my mind!! Good to hear you are up and mobile Paul, and over the surgery! I hope you have a comfortable and positive New Year mate. Planning to sneak away for a visit on the 2nd...See you then!
Yah I'm finally back online. Thanks for all the positve messages from you people. They really mean a lot when your stuck in a Hospital bed.The people that have visited me have been great and have been a great help in my recovery. Until something like this happens you don't realise how many great people there are on KiwiBiker. So once again thanks everyone.
Better provide an update on things. After those jerks in Auckland hosp tried to kill me again I've managed to escape out to the Spinal Unit in Otara. This place has an unusual atmosphere but at least the staff want to get you up and about. Starting to spend more time in the chair but Jeez have I lost a lot of strenght. This really helps the mind and finally allows access to PC. On weds the staff will return and then I'll be in Boot Camp. Relearning how to do basic stuff again. Pity I'm not cute like a baby which would play on the motherly instincts of the women that work here. Never mind we shall rise to the challenge.
See you peeps out there soon.![]()

Gutted to hear Motobob, but its great to see you on the road to recovery
To every man upon this earth
Death cometh sooner or late
And how can a man die better
Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods
