The kittens are here and have names!

I picked up our two kittens last Friday and we've named the male tabby Shelby and the dark grey and white female Misty. Although Shelby is still having a few 'accidents' so he does get called a few other names at times!

Here are a couple of shots of them now they have settled in.

Aren't they cute. I'm not allowed anywhere near pet shops, SPCA or animal rescue unsupervised after bringing home another kitten last week. But Spanner is very happy to have a companion who she can play with, and the dog can torment. Optimus Prime is a gorgeous little ginger purry-cuddly monster. He's a dead ringer for Death_Inc too, which is a bit of a worry.

    I know the feeling!

Last time I went with Devil to get his hair cut, we came back with a new kitten. Now I get my arm held and led forcefully past any pet stores.

    *sigh*

Look at the wimmin with their cutsy little furry animals. We are staunch bikers here for heavens sake!

Erm. . . Ours arrive just before Christmas. My wife already has plans for the cat gym & several toys.

Think might call my one Kaaden. Won’t tell the wife the motorcycle significance till some while later, she just thinks it’s a cute name.
Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.

I was told that they're (the kittens) not supposed to have collars on 'til they're about 3 months old. They don't hunt outdoors before then and the collars present a strngulation hazard...
Not that I'm trying put a downer on your small cats.
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the evening,
    we will remember them

I want a kitten, but mother won't let me. And the current cat would go even more crazy.

Ours don't normally have collars but these were provided by the animal rescue shelter and the bells are very handy for tracking them down! They are made from a very stretchy elastic fabric and the prong on the buckle just pokes through it rather than there being actual holes. They don't seem to mind them even if the collars are quite long and the excess is tucked back and forth through the loop the bell is on! She told me to check on them every week and loosen them off as they grow, but once they are a little bigger and we're not so worried about standing on them, the collars will be removed. They have our phone number on them in case they wander off, but as they are confined to the house at present, that's not likely! If there was any chance they could hurt themselves, the collars would be off in an instant, don't worry.

Get a spider instead. Much cuter , and more useful. And you don't have to feed them. I have two at present, I had one for ages, now a second one (larger) has moved in.

EDIT. Predictably, the longer term resident is called Sid. I have not named the newcomer yet, I'm waiting to see if Sid eats him, in which case it would be a waste naming him. Or, he eats Sid, in which case he can be the new Sid.

I don't know how many Sids there have been , must be a large number, I've had spiders for years.

I just had to rescue one of our kittens from next door.....stoopid animal went for a wander into the neighbors downstairs (unoccupied!) unit when someone opened it up today and wasn't missed for a few hours.......the landlord had to be called out to unlock the door.... doh.

But they are bundles of joy. A purring kitten makes most things right.

shit i'm a pussy! (pun intended)
