Looks like for the same speed 1 rear tooth is about 100rpm difference...
eg.
14/41 @ 100kph = 4500rpm
14/43 @ 100kph = 4700rpm
14/44 @ 100kph = 4800rpm
They're installed now but I'm going to have to cut open my bars if I ever want to remove them.
They've definitely changed the vibes but I have a suspicion they're touching the bars inside somewhere and defeating the purpose.
Stuck a pair in the XR as well but havn't had a chance to ride it yet.
It's finally started playing up and dropping satellites.
Overseas it can happen after as little as a month and it's been sweet on the DR since March 2008.
It's had a shitload of vibration in that time.
I may pull it apart and solder an external aerial in on a 50cm lead and see how it goes.
what about an aerial wire hooking up to the bars useing the bike as the antenna...
that sounds really dumb when i read it back.

Stopped and said gidday to helicopter as he was waiting for the AA to arrive. He didn't know that drs had this issue, but said that someone else stopped before me and told him as well. he seemed happy enough.
I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........
Got an FCR39 on the way
It's taken a few years but finally one came up at an appropriate price.
My old Keihin FCR38 is off to a new home and it's place on the gargre wall will soon be taken up by it's bigger brother the '39.
What difference does the 1mm make besides being able to say mines bigger than yours?

Stock is 40mm but a huge butterfly+shaft in the way.
All the instructions for setting up pumpers on the DR are for either the Mikuni TM40 or Keihin FCR39.
The 38mm I would have had to work out all the jetting myself and the pilot and pilot air were fixed which didn't help.
Perfect carb for a DRZ400/XR400/DR350 though.
