An internet forum has named a smiley after me
I give you, the "nordie"![]()
OK selling the crf and want a dual purpose bike, capable of two up. Already have the givi luggage from the road bike.
You boys are all near me (i'm in westport) and so likley to join in the NADS trips (if i'm accepted). So dont wont to look completely out of place but only got about 5k to spend. Do I get a DR, KLR, KLE, or Transalp - cant afford a BMW 650, or triumph 800xc but did see a cheap honda 650 dominator on tardme.
Comments opinions arguement/debates welcome please ..........
If this shouldn't be here please direct me to the right place.![]()
You only need two tools in life - WD-40 and Duct Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.
And now a third thing a bloody big gun to shoot theives with!
IMHO I think it really does depend on what roads you want to ride and how regularly 2 up.
I had a DR650 and even though my wife is quite light, I didn't think the bike was suitable for 2 up very often unless considerable money was spent on upgrades.
I now have a TDM which is fine for 2 up, if required, but I would be too sookie to take into the rough stuff.

I think a decent sized twin motor makes touring easier but can still give a low weight that helps in the rougher roads, although from a brief look I thought the KLR was the most likely 2 up touring single you listed. Just buy the best your budget will allow and the guys on here will help there.
Cheers
How far do you want to go off the seal? gravel roads and light dirt tracks go for the Transalp, lumpier rougher stuff and still 2-up go for a KLR. After taking a few pillions on the DR I agree that they aren't big enough. Even a tiny pillion won't fit on the seat behind the rider and will end up half on the rear fender unless you are really tiny yourself.
Underground and a few others could advise on whether the Dommie's would be suitable. That white one is nice.
