My Torpedo7 tyre changer thingy arrived yesterday

Built-in bead breaker for DR650 rear wheels

Changed the TT350 front tyre from the current KiwiX knobbly to the MT21 off the DR650 dirt front wheel.

Nice and easy to break the bead with, that's for sure.
Good solid platform to work on too.

Only one main complaint. The post up the middle is nicely the size of the DR650 front axle so fits brilliantly.
The TT350 however has a significantly smaller axle diameter...

I'll measure up the TT axle and get some threaded stock the same size to replace the tyre changers post...

Pulled the shock out on Sat with the intention of putting on the resovoir off an XR350 with adjustable compression damping.
Of course the original hydro line is now too short and the replacement line needs another banjo bolt and the banjo bolts are 10x1mm thread, not the normal 10x1.25mm.
Good luck finding one of them on a weekend...

The bump stop has disintegrated too.
Filled the shock with 5w and put the original resovoir back on. For Sundays ride.
    Wow. Damping.

On Monday, I found the right banjo bolt ($14) and got the XR canister on there.
Of course, after all this effort, I can't tell any difference between no compression and full compression damping...
On the bright side, I've now got a resovoir with a normal valve that I can play with pressures before I get it nitrogen'd up.
The bump stop will get replaced some other time.

Also the lowest gearing you can run on the TT350 with an MT43 trials rear, is 52/14 with 110 links. 53/14 just rubs on the swing arm and chews the tops of the knobs off. Even though there is 5mm static clearance.

you cant get a 13t for the front fran?
i used to ride a tt of that model some years ago...fantastic bike
super plush and comfy and a great starter..even after a drop
was a bit heavy for the sands of woodhill...more throttle the only cure
altho i didnt know it was heavy until i bought a 1991 xr250 which seemed
    lithe by comparisson....halcyon days

I've got 14/15/16 fronts and 47/50/52/53 rears to choose from.
A 13t front would chew through the swing arm slider in no time.

I'll be running 16/53 on the Shinko 705's as it's the same as the 15/50 I've been using with them.
15/54 would be about the same ratio with the bigger diameter MT43 on, so 14/52 should be slightly lower than that.

    Simple really

    Righty...

Done some more measuring and maths...

The MT43 is 5% more circumference than the Shinko 705.
That's the same as 1 tooth on the front or 3 on the rear.
Sooo, if I go to 15/52, it'll be 1 rear tooth higher geared than the 705 but with the lower pressure, it'll be about the same...
Problem is, that it's on 5.0 on the snail cam and I thought that rubbed the swingarm?
There looks to be about 5mm or more clearance, so I'll give it a go this weekend.

Also the stand was flopping around like a floppy thing, so I drilled a new hole for the spring to hook in to and it's sweet now No movement at all, constantly under tension.

right um yeah err thats correct, but did he allow for elongation of the circumferance due to centrifical forces imposed on the wheel I wonder
    ....wherezz that track go

Yes he did but they act more vociferously on the bits of the tyre not touching the road, as evidenced by the marks (no, not that Marks) on the swing arm. Also running slightly higher pressures should reduce the expansion coefficient significantly.

Actually, mounting the GoPro up so you could see the expansion would be quite cool, in a pointless way.

I went for a short ride with my mate this morning & his WR450 in the forest dodging raindrops. Looking down from the cockpit something looked askew & I couldn't pick what was pissed. Took everything off & checked the bars from every angle & tried to measure them, eyed everything up & put it together again (do you think I could remember something as simple as routing the throttle cables)
Any way i think after all that it was just the headlight cowling was a bit pissed making everything look off & the handlebar clamp a bit twisted.

I'm going into the forest tomorrow. See if I can practice some non-crashing techniques, like log crossings.

My Nordwest always felt a little weird in the handlebar department. Turned out the markings on the bars weren't quite in the center...

Also, if you want some dirt front tyres, NordieBro's got a small pile of ex-race ones to get shot of.

15mm odd knobs but just rounded, so less use for racing.

The TT is in getting the muffler replaced and a steering damper installed.

    Apparently, it "sounds really gay"
