I don't think I could use these on a pair of road cranks though
They're not as long as my old pedals and my heels would touch the crank arms...

If you find some loose breath floating around up by the picnic table on the Dun it is prob mine. I lost quite a bit last nite during my massive half hour climb up the steepest railway track line in Nelson. (Imagine a really big facepalm planted right here). I think I was getting over an illness that hadn't manifested itself fully (imagine Tui ad here).

OK I'm as unfit as a wallowing fat thing. At least I'm eating more to make up for it.

I ride flats - they have a nice sense of freedom - I dislike clipins now - personally I find them too restrictive & dangerous. The flats do bottom out over real rooty stuff if i don't watch it tho.

On another note, the bronze plaque memorial thing on the picnic table for old Bryan Wallace who died there is not there any more. i'm really hoping that it has been taken off to be cleaned & not pinched by some lil theiving bastard.

Plenty of loose breath around tonight at the Urban MTB Race.

    I went to take photos...

    However...
The track looked really cool, soo.......

My heart and lungs hit the wall after 1.5 laps of 4...

    But...

I was the only crosser bike there and a solid mid-field when it happened...

The local bike shops are going to do a roaring trade on tubes, and rims tomorrow...

Coming down the only bit of dirt downhill (nice and fast) and there was a nice g-out onto the playing field...
Fcuk me. I thought the bike was going to fold in half under me...

The front steps... Well... I carried my bike down them...

Some just jumped as far as they could and rode the rest...

Yep & my mountain biking mate has broken his shoulder - just as his other one has healed after surgery from breaking that one.

Something about big jumps off Kaka that makes people do silly things. Funny thing is they talk about motorcyclists being mentally deficient whereas mtbing is the safe option. Oh no I hope I haven't started an ACC debate

Don't start doing events Nordie -next you'll be eating veges, stretching checking out your metabolism app on the ipad- and spending less time doing important things like cutting up household objects to stick on your bikes.

The thing is, I'm remembering how much I loved running and biking

Vege's are fine. In a stir fry. With meat. Lots of meat.
    Stretching doesn't work with me.
Metabolism app on the iPad? Don't be silly, it's on the Android phone.

Waiting on some more gaskets and bungs for the TT and putting some of the LED running lights on the DR Bright little suckers on 12v. They're the visual version of the Stebel. "I'll just hook them up to this battery and see how bright they are"... Fcuk

Some tidy Eggbeater SL's arrived yesterday.
Cleaned them up, re-greased and mounted on the MTB.
    Work well.

Put the shorter stem on the bike to see how it would go.
Got the shock pump out and pumped the forks up to 20psi.
    No movement.
OK, I remember this now, it was best at about 10psi.
Hmmm, wonder what the motorbike gauge says.

Oh. At 20psi on the shock pump gauge, the motorbike gauge says about 60psi...

The shocks work about right at 34psi on the motorbike gauge.

Might as well pull the gauge off the pump. It's not much use

It is until the TT gets going...

I'm hoping this will enable me to not need rests at the top of hills so often and my back not be as sore the day after a "proper" ride...

Changed the oil and the rear 705 tyre.
The tyre is getting a bit shiny, but it's done 13,000km, including a DB1K

I've put on an old 244 (removed from bike in 2008) that's got a bit of tread left (the T7 tyre changer breaks the bead nicely by the way).

You inspired me to get out on the peddles Nordie. I spent some time on my daughters old treadly on the weekend, doing skids, riding down steps, popping some lifties, really cool fun and a good workout.....roast chicken and chops afterwards with roast vegies, apple and rubarb pie with lashings of whipped cream for puddy...magic
    ....wherezz that track go

Changed the DR rear tyre, moved the MTB front to the rear and mounted up a new front and mounted knobblies on the 'crosser today.

Then went for a loop over Codgers, Tantragee, Golf Course and home on the MTB.
It was spitting at the start of Codgers and I could see the crap coming in from the south.

2 pronged attack. The bastard also sneaked in from the east.

45mins of an hours ride in pissing, cold, windy, rain

Sun was out when I got home

The MTB isn't shifting properly, the shifter is slipping. I don't think it's the back end that's the problem.

I still prefer the 'crosser. Unless it's rocky...

Been looking for an ANT+ compatible bike computer that can use the same sensors my phone does - heart, cadence, speed...

    Not many out there...

By accident I found my Garmin Oregon 300 GPS does

Works sweetly with the HRM and cadence sensors...

The bonus of the GPS is the batteries last a hell of a lot longer than the phone ones and when I upload the gpx file to the SportyPal site, it picks up the hrm data as well
