Polypropylene neck sock and ear plugs. Ear plugs make a huge difference, and can improve your riding.

I'll second that too! Can't believe how many people don't ride with earplugs.

hehe just posted in the shark helmet thread also.

Umm right, so ear plugs and neck sock.. what about a scarf?

I have a FFM helmet Mrs KD... its a XL ... but its not really a good good fit. I dont mind the noise so much, its the cold and the fact that it moves a little. You think maybe I got the wrong fit?

Possibly hun, did you try on heaps of different ones. Different helmets have different fits. I find the Sharks uncomfortable, but others swear by them, think it just depends on the shape of your noodle. I have an HJC which is not too bad, but love Arai helmets and others don't like the feel of them, so it's all personal preference of what is comfortable and what fits. It should be snug, shouldn't move, but not hurting anywhere. The guys in the shop should be able to help you fit one. Oh and earplugs really are the hornet's bum!

If it's moves, I'd say it's the wrong fit. I've been searching for a helmet in the last month. Tried dozens of helmets, 5-7 brands at least, but none would fit properly (all too wide at the chin bar). In the end I found the AGV's to be a good fit and the G-MAC from Wellington Motorcycles. Everything else didn't feel right.

The guys with more experience could correct me if I'm wrong, but as far as I know, if the helmet is a good fit, you shouldn't feel the cold anywhere underneath the helmet. It it's a correct fit, there's no space between the head and the helmet padding allround. with the vents and the visor closed, you should start sweating (unless is winter and really, really cold )

*highjacking thread* Sorry Centaurus... its these Hornet' people really

Umm tried on lots of helmet, this one was the best fit, but I guess I didnt really know what it was like until I was going 70 and in the cold. Will try the ear plugs and scafy thing first before I buy a new one, see if it makes a difference. Want to look at some shops over your way though, would have a much bigger selection of stuff then here in Masters.

    Whats polypropylene anyway?

When buying a new helmet, it should feel as if it is 'a little' tight. The padding compresses after a while and the helmet will go loose. My helmet felt like the perfect fit a few months ago. Now I can feel a slight movement when I turn my head. Not much, but I know it's there. And I know my head hasn't shrunk.

Oh! bye the way - Welcome to the site Centaurus.
I'm only wearing black until they develop something darker
